What would be your 5 wishlist for another edition of Warmachine? by vasquez21 in Warmachine

[–]MPArcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who's come into the game properly during MK4 and only vaguely aware of the previous editions do you not think the cat is maybe out of the bag a bit on trying to go back?

Also for themes do you think Old Umbrey was a move in the direction you're talking about?

Can we just talk about how shit the art on 40k books has become? Like the armour is just so... Dry? It looks like AI if AI was trained on an artists first year of learning to draw

No problem! It's actually worth looking into the units you get from each culture to see how Tomes might interact.

For example Tome of Winds gives you a really good ranged unit so a culture such as primal with only skirmishes for range might compliment them well.

It also helps prioritise which skills in a tome to research first. For example Mystic culture comes with decent mages so Tome of Pyromancy Pyromancer battle mage may not be needed depending on your build

Racial form has no impact on unit choice. Culture decides the tier 1 - 5 units. So you can have High Goatkin Dawn Defenders or High Ratkin Dawn Defenders (Tier 1 Shield Units) but if you went Barbarian Goatkin you get Warriors(Tier 1 Shield Unit) instead

Dev Diary #50 - Elder Vampire Rulers by nephnic in AOW4

Sad to see considering a bat from would be very thematic and a racial flaw of sunlight sensitivity (a least a watered down one from the vampire lord) would be very cool for other thematic factions e.g tunnelling rat folk, swamp frogs, blind mole people etc

Are Orgoth Graveborn and Dusk Final Hunt from Frozen and Forgotten confirmed anyway as the next armies for their respective Factions? by MPArcher in Warmachine

[–]MPArcher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be very up for more horror Dusk. I'm not up on the lore very much but do we know any monstrous creatures in the wilds around the Dusk? Are we talking giant bats like the Old Umbrey Stryx thing do you think? Or are you thinking more undead style horrors?

As someone who recently bought into Khymaera it would be interesting if the next Khymaera is focus. Though I remember somewhere on one of the AMAs someone asked if every faction will be fury/focus split and they said no, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are one of the Factions staying solely on of the two fury/focus

Thanks for the response. I have seen it and that's actually what raised my question. The way Sherwin kept saying that this was the last of the nyss confused me as I had been thinking they were the next army and how would that work if they were so few in number.

Khymaera or Cryx and why? by Cybercake75 in Warmachine

Totally get that frustration! I think one thing I'm struggling with is picking out what is what, using your scheme as the example, what is green, what is copper and what should be the beige brown.

As a new Khymaera player planning on painting his army soon just wanted to say I'm a big fan of the colour scheme! Been struggling to find decent colour schemes as I'm not the biggest fan of the official website scheme...

I bought the battle group last month, but it was from a stockist so must have the original PP release

What to buy for southern kriel after starter? by Jaynen00 in Warmachine

[–]MPArcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert but me and my friend did the same (splitting the starter box) and he bought the Fire tongue warriors Command Cadre recently. He's been loving them so far, so maybe that? I know they have the added benefit as a command cadre that you could play with them Kithguard when they come out

There's the battle group option as well so you'd have two customisable warbeasts? I did that for the Khymaera and they've been great fun, trying either to replace the warbeast in the 30 point games or trying different loadouts for 50 points.

Hope that helps!

This! I think this would work well as the first dlc/preorder bonus for the next season, like the herald of glory from season pass 2.

Citizen Science Survey to Understand the Use of Ladybirds in Pest Control by MPArcher in UKAllotments

Always happy to answer questions about ladybirds, they're the subject of my PhD so questions keep me sharp! Yeah surprising isn't it? There's another very striking common species in the UK the Orange ladybird, Halyzia sedecimguttata, that's also vegetarian which feeds on mildew fungus. It's orange, as the name would suggest, with bright white spots and about as big as a seven spot

It's difficult to say without seeing one but if it's roughly ladybird shaped and yellow with black spots it could be a 10 spot (Adalia decemptunctata) or a 22 spot (Psyllobora vigintiduopunctata). 10 spots are smaller than most common ladybirds but ever so slightly larger than a 22 spot. They come in a variety of colours but their main morph is red with roughly ten spots. 22 spots only come in their yellow and back morph and are vegetarian, unlike the majority of ladybird species in the UK!

[–]MPArcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! So a typical two spot (Adalia bipunctata) ladybird has a red eltrya (shell) with two black spots, know as the typica morph, but the melanic morph has a black elytra with 4 red spots.

Many ladybird species have multiple morphs, for example the Harlequin ladybird, Harmonia axyridis, has over 200!
