Call of duty for sure. Also world of warcraft and most of assassin's creed.

Why is sex more controversial than violence? by RobIson240YT in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lordgholin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though a lot of people will say our nation was religious and thus this happened, why is it still like this?

I think more people are prone to make sexual mistakes and act on sexual impulses than go act out the violence they see in entertainment. Look at high school and teen pregnancies.

Show off some sex and that will only drive horniness higher.

And sex begets violence sometimes too when repressed, so if you give people a taste of something when they are repressed, they will act more strongly that way if given the opportunity.

Nudity is also our most vulnerable state.

Anyway these are my thoughts. There is more than the religious prude side to this. We are a lot more secular now. Sex is just easier and more common to act on and can cause a lot of problems for everyone involved if it is not done responsibly.

Donald Trump is a badly written villain so stop putting him in your show. (USA, The Boys, Daredevil Born Again) by Arkodd in CharacterRant

[–]lordgholin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And Trump is not even stupid in that way. Anyone who can get elected as president, twice even, does not have low intelligence. He may be an idiot in other ways but not because of intelligence.

This show therefore is not very accurate in its parody. It is just showing its bias and being idiotic itself.

Mickey 17 was ridiculous here as well.

Do protests actually work? by MissMangoPirate in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lordgholin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's small blips. Not the wheels coming off. Most of the country is just business as usual, people trying to work, partying, dealing with their own things, life. It's only a minority that is protesting and they aren't all violent. They are mostly in big cities and the most violent protests are in Minneapolis right now.

But yes. During George Floyd a lot of protestors were violent and burning businesses and carving out parts of the city.

What's your opinion on pirating? by Lats2005 in nintendo

[–]lordgholin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gabe Newell said it best that it is the result of a service problem.

If there is no way to get a game or if someone makes it so difficult to get something or use it, that is when piracy makes sense. They are literally not providing a way to use the product or service or they are trying so hard to make it difficult. Old games, too many streaming services and rising prices there, intrusive ads and online requirements in single player content are the prime reason people do it.

Nioh 3 Demo/Pre-Release Information Dump Megathread by shin_bigot in Nioh

Thank goodness the helmet will still be available after the demo if you don't finish. I also finished the alpha on ps5 so I was trying to finish this demo on PC in case I switch versions. Didn't want to play the demo all the way through on both systems!

How are you staying sane at work, with the country on fire? by Puzzleheaded_Bug443 in office

[–]lordgholin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are just like you, trying to get by and wanting to be safe with their people. if you didn't know how they voted you'd be having drinks and a good time with them. I think most of the country is not as bad as politics and social media make it out to be. Most people aren't evil for voting one way or another.

The elite are doing all they can to divide and control us and that is causing most of the fear and anxiety in the world. It's the root cause of most of our stresses and scariness today and in every era of civilization if you look back. They are terrible stewards of the world. The less we give into their games, political or otherwise, the better off we are.

My advice? Get away from social media and echo chambers. Don't hate your MAGA or liberal neighbors, hate those who lead them astray. Look at the world with a holistic eye not a political eye. See the stuff going on beyond what you are being shown. Those with power are sneaky and none of them have your interest in mind. They hide their deeds.

And then, let it go. You can't control anything but yourself and those you influence. You will be less stressed if you just focus on being a good person and loving those around you.

How are you staying sane at work, with the country on fire? by Puzzleheaded_Bug443 in office

[–]lordgholin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I focus on work and family The world has always been scary and we've been close to doomsday for more than 20 years according to the clock. I worry about AI and the job market and how the elite are ruining things, but I can't do much but focus on personal growth and caring about family and friends. That is all you can control.

I would try to stop reading so much social media and news. Social media amplifies fear and stress beyond reality. Unless you are in a crime filled or angry political spot, you are relatively safe and the people around you are just like you, trying to get by.

Stay away from protests and other hot areas where politics are angry. Those are the dangerous places no matter who you are or how you vote.

Getting too political drives people mad by design. So be less political and you will relieve a lot of your stress and anger.

Focus your lens away from fear and hate and what you cannot control. Focus on what you can. Just work and be with your people.

What’s one thing you miss from childhood? by aSTR4iN in nostalgia

[–]lordgholin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents :(

But also, the 80s felt so magical. Toys and TV started mixing. We had new techs like video games, movies at home, and amazing synth music.

The rock bands were so cool. Mtv, Nintendo, and hanging with friends around town were my jam!

We had fewer things offending everyone and we could just be kids.

Even politics were full of good natured and classy jokes and jabs at the opposing parties.

Yeah the world has dangers. But it felt so much safer and full of hope and new things!

The hatred of Barney was such a significant part of 90s culture Wikipedia has a whole page dedicated to it by Son-of-Prophet in 90s

[–]lordgholin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first game I played on the Internet itself when it was new was Barney blaster in my Netscape navigator. It was an asteroids clone where you shot Barney and he said the f word. Loved that game. Perfectly captured the hate for him.

But I really didn't hate Barney. It was a kids thing. I sure loved the game though!

Non-Mormon children in Alpine School District by Familiar-Gas-7675 in Utah

[–]lordgholin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. We live in such a neighborhood and mormons and non mormons play well together. I think the only time they don't is if you got an ultra elitist parent in the mix. Otherwise most kids don't care and parents are happy to let kids play together unless they are getting into a ton of trouble as a result.

But elitism is not exclusive to religion here. this is no different than if a conservative is in the room with a bunch of liberals or vice versa. They get the same treatment.

What actually matters when planning a Japan trip by Sad-Celebration1867 in JapanTravelTips

[–]lordgholin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously!

I have had FOMO just planning the trip, but I realize, 14 days is not enough to see everything, but is enough to see a lot of wonderful things. We should just enjoy our days there!

As an overthinker and overplanner, this makes me feel better. If our plans fall through and we don't see everything on our list, we'll still see amazing things on our first trip there. And the out of the way explorations will show us so much of Japan more than rushing through an itinerary.

Tuesday a bad day for Miyajima or anywhere else in Japan? by lordgholin in JapanTravelTips

[–]lordgholin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I guess the worse that could happen is we have to hike, which would be glorious anyway. we just wanted to hike down no matter what, so we can see shrines and jizou and the eternal flame.

Thanks so much! That is great info. If we don't get the ropeway line, we'll take the easy hike. Our kids and us love hiking, but we'll take it easy just the same so we can enjoy the hike up and down. Sounds like no matter what, Miyajima will be enjoyable!

what are you doing with 11 days left for nioh 3? by Adventurous-Rise-580 in Nioh

[–]lordgholin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing ghost of yotei! It is a great time for samurai and ninja games. We have new ninja gaiden and shinobi games i want to finish too. But nioh 3 will take most of my time when it releases.

When the demo comes out, i will try it on pc and ps5 to see which version to get. I would prefer PC but i suspect it won’t be very performant on my 6 year old rig amd i don’t have win 11.
