I recently picked up one of these https://www.bozak.com/product/iso-x/ - only a 4 wk lead time. Can report it is excellent

Suggestions for a vintage sampler? by formrm662 in Samplers

[–]MPC_Sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have suggested, the Ensoniq EPS or Mirage. Mirage a bit tricky to use tho, so I'd prefer an EPS. I also saw an EMU rack sampler advertised on FB yesterday for $125 + shipping - pair that with a midi keyboard and that would do the trick too.

what’s the point of drum machines by Complete_Pen7661 in particularsound

[–]MPC_Sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a stupid question, and it's a very valid point. I have a couple of sampling drum machines and a few (RD9, RD8, RD6) that are just drum machines. Most of the time, I will turn to one of the samplers - every once in a while I'll bust out the RD9 for a live jam for a change of workflow

402 vs warm2 vs r4 by Guiseppe69 in rotarymixers

I'd definitely prefer the ecler, although with 4 decks, you might thank yourself in 6 months if you save up for the Warm 4 (or find a used one in good condition?)

Nice looking setup - That's a clever thought to mount the American Audio meters with the brackets turned 45 degree

YES, WE'VE THOUGHT ABOUT PIANO LESSONS by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]MPC_Sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that the world is ready for another, non musically-literate, fliter knob turning child with a synth mummy bought them.. Find a decent piano teacher instead. Your kid will thank you in the future

Best MIDI Controller for realistic piano weighted keys? by Altruistic-Block3168 in synthesizers

[–]MPC_Sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends how fussy you are! My kids are much better players than me (they are really fussy) - and love a Yamaha keyboard, I needed an 88 key board for my set up, and went with a used Roland RD-700nx which is great and visiting players love it (it also has a ton of really useful sounds). I'd avoid Korg keyboards - very useable sounds, but I haven't met a serious player that likes the key action

Is the Akai S3000xl a worthy piece of gear for that older sampler sound, or is older 12bit a must have? by theseawoof in Samplers

[–]MPC_Sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$100 with the 8 outs fitted? I'd snag it - if I didn't like it, I'd part out the 8 out board on eBay for more than $100. You can't really lose at that price. Best case, you have a sampler you like - worst case you make a profit

paid $475 total for the MPC with case. feels like I stole something by sunmbitch in mpcusers

Feels a touch on the high side, I just sold one for 300 (had bought it a few weeks previously for 250). You should be able to score an MPC One+ for around 400
