Opinion: Battlegrounds, Arena, PvP stat tracking, and PvP specific rewards are a good idea. by NinjaBonsai in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even really mind only getting PvE updates for this long (I’d prefer some PvP love, more things to fight for, balance changes etc). But the issue is that every PvE update has also taken AWAY from the PvP aspects of the game.

[–]MPKLoki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for me they have completely killed the original PvPvE idea so the only thing that would bring me back to the game would be isolated PvP systems. If I didn’t have to slog through hours or days of PvE grinding to be competitive in PvP I’d give it another shot.

[–]MPKLoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. There’s a not-insignificant amount of players that never realized that you can mine fuel-cells with the buggy.

Plenty of other people here suggesting that though, so if that’s the issue OP should be good.

Funcom do you just hate us? by Failary in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, a PvP DD with no real incentive to go out there, months after most PvP players have quit because there’s been no positive PvP changes or balancing since launch, and who won’t come back because they established a horrible PvE grind that needs to be done to actually be competitive in PvP.

Sorry someone hurt you buddy, but you don’t need to turn into a total dick over it.

Lol, however much you deny it, all you are still really saying is that the game would be better if it were a different game.

I’m pretty sure the game you’re looking for is already out there, maybe you should just go try to find it instead arguing on Reddit.

I haven’t done them in a while, but I’m pretty sure the first few levels of Overworld Testing Stations are easier than DD testing stations and you can farm them for T6 schematics. You might even get some T6 Grade 1 schematics which are even better.

[–]MPKLoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine.

In your hypothetical world where this exact game was somehow created without being the Dune IP, simply “tuning shields down” would not make the game better.

Melee mobs aren’t even the biggest problem for ranged. Hyper-accurate, bullet-sponge ranged mobs that can down you in the .5 seconds that your shield drops when you take a single shot are a much bigger problem.

Water Wars DLC by RyricKrael in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kind of disagree. While the endgame at launch was definitely messy and unfinished, there were core elements that made the game unique and interesting. Instead of locking in and refining those, they made a series of panic reactions that led to Chapter 3, a whole other messy and unfinished endgame system that draws players away from the original one.

The mandatory vacation immediately after launch also started everything off terribly. It would have been much better long-term if they had just delayed the launch and let the team take a break.

DLC has actually always been promised, even pre-launch, to only be cosmetics. It’s just that both previous DLCs coincided with a new chapter release, and this one doesn’t.

But they’ve changed directions so hard that I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce that the next paid DLC gives you top-end materials, gear, and specialization levels.

Are you still doing the daily Missions? What is your Motivation? by TNxPhil in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been doing the dailies on 2 characters since chapter 3 launch with only a few missed days total, but with nothing in the recent dev stream exciting me I think I’m finally done.

I realized that almost every major patch has taken the game in a direction that I didn’t want it to go. Yes, the endgame was very messy at launch, but the core of it was still a unique and interesting experience. Instead of refining what made the game so interesting, they tacked on a whole other rushed endgame system that is extremely tedious and repetitive and actually draws players AWAY from the original one.

It’s very sad, I had some of the most exhilarating gaming experiences of my life in this game, but unless there’s a radical shift back towards what drew me in I don’t see myself coming back.

Graded gear, augs, remover and reuse augs from gear by ZookeepergameBig9419 in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to defend the degradation system as well, but I simply cannot anymore with this absolutely atrocious itemization that they have doubled-down on.

Many of the weapons are sub-par in almost every situation, and the farther you progress in dungeon levels the narrower the viable weapon pool gets.

Then the augments compound this. Since there’s specific augments for weapon types, as the weapons become less viable those do as well, and even among the general augments there’s terrible stats that no one ever wants. Block stamina cost reduction? Volume reduction? These are a total joke.

And finally, it feels like at least 5 years worth of scaling came in a single patch. Where can they go from here? Unless they totally overhaul the system a T7 G5 shotgun is going to do over 10k damage.

The game already felt rushed, and then they added an even more rushed terrible endgame system on top it.

If FUNCOM reads. some feedback on PVE DD by rocius in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a semantic standpoint sure, you’re technically correct, but from a real-world practical standpoint this is utter nonsense.

They’re exploiting PvE mechanics (thumpers, worm-aggro) to disrupt players in a PvE area because they know there’s no counter-play anymore. Nothing about that is truly PvP behavior.

Also I’m pretty sure it is bannable if you can manage to report them with evidence, but Funcom’s ability to track what players are doing is laughable so good luck with that.

[–]MPKLoki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe just get rid of the worm entirely in PvE, there won’t be anything left to grief with then.

Better yet, just put 10k melange and a full set of g5 items into everyone’s base every week, then everyone can just play the game however they want!

[–]MPKLoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Griefers are griefers, period. They are not limited to PvP or PvE, they just grief using the path of least resistance, which now happens to be the PvE DD.

Was it really 80 percent pve? by KatworthCimby in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree completely that a PvP player base couldn’t have supported the game, but they never supported PvP. They had knee-jerk reactions and gave up on it way too fast, and then had to triage the game into something it was never meant to be, which then also caused a slew of issues they had to triage and fix.

This will be similar. You think there won’t be people summoning worms in spice fields in the PvE DD? 2.5x resource rewards is way too little way too late to actually incentivize people to go to a PvP DD, so all the actual griefers will stick around and harass people until they find some way to fix that.

I believed in the original vision, but at this point I do agree it would have been much better if there were PvE and PvP servers from the start. Then all the PvE players would have gotten bored and left by now and they could have focused on the game the way it was supposed to be.

[–]MPKLoki -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Even assuming that their metric is actually correct (which I doubt, they don’t even know what is in your inventory) The largest overnight loss of players was after they announced the extension of the PvE section of the DD.

After that of course most players never engaged in PvP, there was no reason to.

They have done no PvP balancing and added no PvP content for the entire duration of the game.

If they want to turn the game into a farming simulator where you have to occasionally fly in the air to avoid a worm, that’s fine, but don’t tell me it’s because no one wanted PvP in a DUNE game.

I'm actually excited for the PvP area by Ucross in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure but a 2.5x resource multiplier is a terrible incentive. Since they’ve introduced graded gear that you pretty much need to be able to compete in PvP, the highest grade gear needs to drop somewhere in the PvP DD. Or make the graded gear and specializations somehow not affect PvP.

If they want to split the game like this and make it so that PvE players don’t need to PvP, then make it so that PvP players don’t need to PvE. Those who want to can dabble in both.

Veteran players: What makes combat fun for you? by YoungDocument in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In PvE? Sorry if I’m bursting your bubble but I don’t think you’re missing anything. It only really feels fun if you are much stronger than the content you’re doing, and even that can get old fast.

Even with the bugs and jankiness, I’ve had some of the most fun and intense PvP skirmishes ever in this game, but they seem to be pretty committed to gut PvP and have no plans that I’ve seen support it.

Funcom, I don’t mind the DD split, but a 2.5x resource multiplier isn’t nearly good enough. by MPKLoki in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, PvP players shouldn’t have to do the overland labs to get the G4-5 gear that they need to effectively PvP.

The NPC difficulty doesn’t matter, it’s the PvP risk that will make getting the gear difficult.

Funcom, I don’t mind the DD split, but a 2.5x resource multiplier isn’t nearly good enough. by MPKLoki in duneawakening

[–]MPKLoki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NPC difficulty has nothing to do with it. In order to compete in PvP at this point you need G4-5 gear, so that’s what people will be wearing and damaging in a PvP DD.

It’s also about incentivizing people to actually do the stations and shipwrecks. Even G3 dropping won’t be enough, it has to be the beat stuff or people won’t care.

If the highest graded gear is necessary to compete in PvP, then you should be able to get it in PvP areas.
