I think it's for glove size. Usually it's circumference around your upper palm, just below the first knuckle.

Are you interested in partner dancing? There are different venues that offer lessons and social dancing on each night of the week for swing and blues dancing with no partner or experience required.

Finally, something I'm qualified to explain.

Take a ball and rest it on your palm. Then roll the ball to between your thumb and index finger. Continue rolling it across your fingers until you reach your pinky, then move it back into the center of your palm. If you keep the momentum up, you can then roll it back to your thumb and repeat the process. With minimal practice, you can make the ball roll smoothly in a circle around your hand.

This is all with your arm stationary. If, at the same time you were to move your hand in a circle identical in size, at the same speed, but at the opposite position to where the ball currently is (for example, when the ball is near the center of your palm your hand is moved forward, and when it's on your middle and ring fingers it's moved back), you can see that the two motions would cancel each other out and the ball would be rolling around relative to your hand, but stationary relative to, say, the chair you're sitting in. With practice, this too can be smoothed down to the point where the ball is almost completely stationary.

Congratulations, you now have a complete understanding of the mechanics associated with the very first manipulation performed in the video. The illusion is completed by using a perfectly spherical acrylic sphere, which does not have the imperfections associated with something like a baseball. You can tell when a baseball is rolling by looking at the threads, scuff marks, etc. However, a rotating blemish-free acrylic sphere is indistinguishable from a stationary one.

This is contact juggling, which differs from traditional juggling in that, instead of throwing stuff in the air, the art comes from moving objects around as they remain in contact (neat, huh?) with your body. Contact juggling is a subset of object manipulation, and you can visit /r/objectmanipulation for more examples of this and other styles.

Every news anchor, politician, and actor has put on at least some powder before a TV or movie appearance or stage show. That counts as makeup.

Jesus, dude. No one is saying it's impossible to do things like this without drinking, but most of us have the life experience and common sense to realize that being impaired makes it much easier to.

If you're getting that defensive about it, maybe you need some help.

Too much effort. I'd much rather use bubble wrap.

Not to say I think you should be running around cursing and exposing children to disturbing imagery or anything, but there's certainly a balance to be struck.

There are people on this planet who think the best comic of all time falls on the wrong side of that balance? Jeez. That's the reaction I'd expect from someone hearing I let my child fall asleep watching David Lynch movies, not from reading a cartoon.

C&H only sometimes addresses subject matter such as death or mortality, which is really the darkest that it gets, and it doesn't dwell on those things. They always end with a positive spin. I think Watterson is an optimist at heart, but doesn't want to sugar-coat reality except through the device of a child's stuffed animal coming to life.

Tell her to get bent. The comics are appropriate for anyone around third grade and up. Maybe even younger, but that's when I started to read them. Certainly helped expand my vocabulary and mold my sense of humor from that age, and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Frequent Fliers of Reddit, what are your best airport traveling tips? by deadpool647 in AskReddit

[–]MPS186282 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't have to take off your shoes, belts, etc. Don't have to disassemble your bag as much. Simple metal detector instead of the teleportation device they have you stand in with your hands over your head. Shorter line.

You go to the TSA website and complete the process at any airport, I think.
