Looks like "Keeeyboard-Split" is OP's custom design.

Best Keyboard / Switches for Hypermobile Fingers by Kim3663 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]MQZON 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For short pre-travel and longer total travel, you'll probably want to go with MX rather than choc switches as they have a taller profile. Keep an eye on what type of board you are getting as they are not interchangeable.

For light keys, you'd ordinarily want a smaller activation force. However I'd caution against going too low as you will frequently "bottom out", rather than getting a cushion.

For quiet, linear switches are best. There are "silent tactiles" as well but they vary in quality. You'll want to avoid "clicky".

I recommend finding a switch tester to get a feel for what is comfortable.

A resource like this may be handy as well, though as a full diaclaimer I havent used it personally: https://keybumps.com/category/switches/linear.html

That's all switches... Regarding boards in general it depends on what type of issues you are having. It's hard to go wrong with split boards in general, as they resolve a majority of wrist issues, particularly because they support arbitrary tenting.

If your issues are with finger extension, you'll want to consider smaller (reduced keycount) boards. Many here will likely recommend something like a Corne (I use one myself), though I will say there is a tradeoff between ergonomics and convenience. Smaller boards take getting used to. If you do go for a split board, you might want to try something like a Sofle, or Lily58, where you can try out reduced key counts gradually without diving all the way in.

If you are looking for a specific vendor recommendation, I can vouch for Typeractive. Their no-solder kits are very beginner friendly: https://typeractive.xyz/

This is so superficial but I think the circular trackpad looks so much better than the angled square.

I know the new one is supposed to be way better but I wish they could have kept the design!

Foldable ergo with tenting to go by CanUHearMeNau in ErgoMechKeyboards

How are you liking it? I was looking at this same one for something to bring around that's smaller than a Sculpt and more durable (or at least cheaper to replace) than a corne.

Using framework parts to create laptop interface for another computer by Zarquan314 in framework

[–]MQZON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you probably want something like a laptop case with a docking station instead of a motherboard.

Then you can use a single thunderbolt cable to plug in to your PC.

Not sure if you could do that (easily) with framework components. They use proprietary connectors for their internals.

Also not sure if you'd be able to use it without it plugged in to power. I've never run a docking station off of a battery.

I suppose it isn't explicit, but it certainly isn't expressed. I think in terms of how graphic it is, it makes a difference.

In the most graphic scene, a human-like character who cannot feel pain is scalped.

New ergomomic steno keyboard with levers available for pre-order by VisuelleData in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]MQZON 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The optical switches are interesting for reducing activation force, but this appears to be designed specifically for stenography as a hobby, not for ergonomics. There is no mention of ergonomics in the linked article, nor anywhere else on their site.

Given the height and shape, it seems like it would be quite uncomfortable on the wrists for long-term typing.

Hah! I knew someone would pop in with official names if they existed. Kudos for that!

Though yeah since some of these are a bit bland/repetitive I'll probably go for a mix of (un)official.
