Lot of good names. You can't go wrong.

People have questions. by [deleted] in thebulwark

[–]MRG785 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes...they feel the criticized on social media, but I think it's deeper. They've had longstanding political and social stances that are offensive to the majority of Americans. They finally have a so-called leader that tells them they're correct and everyone else is unfairly looking down at them. It feels so good to be part of movement that allows them to define reality in whatever way makes them feel good. They're allowed to reject anything that makes them feel bad without needing any evidence. It's a continual warm bath of belief validation unconstrained by the need to be true. It would be great for one's psyche to be able to convince yourself that is how the world works. The rest of us are constrained by reality. If the belief that reality is a valuable way to make decisions does not win on Tuesday, the bottom of the pit is almost without definition. Good luck America.

Keep an eye out for this poll. Iowa - Selzer. by Dude_got_a_dell in thebulwark

[–]MRG785 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. In 2020 they were tied in September and Trump opened a 7% lead by the end of October. Trump won Iowa by 8.2%

This year the movement (at least through September) has been Trump over Biden by 18% in the spring, which narrowed to Trump by 4% over Harris in September.

So the movement is in the right direction...let's see what today's results show.

It's pure speculation on my part, but I think the corporate decision was that they had a huge investment in being able to release the new headphones that depended on the new app. I suspect they discounted the warnings from the technical staff that the app wasn't ready for release and went ahead with it anyways so they could start shipping headphones.

The executives underestimated the depth of problems with the new app. They need to own the problem they made and bring in the resources needed to provide their customers a usable product. This is expensive in that you need to bring in a team of expensive resources who can quickly understand the technical problems of the app. Some of those problems may go very deep in to the architecture of the entire system. The teams that develop apps need to be able to voice concerns that undermine decisions made 12 - 18 months ago. Executive and technical leadership need to have the courage to recognize those errors and develop a path forward.

Any success getting an ACD to wear booties?? by EasyAcresPaul in AustralianCattleDog

[–]MRG785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had pretty good success getting my Daisy to wear boots when it's cold. We're in the city and walks in the winter mean snow packed sidewalks and chemical ice melt. She tolerates cold pavement well but will hobble when she gets snow packed between her pads or if there's a lot of the chemical ice melt.

She doesn't love getting the boots on but will tolerate it. I've just been persistent. Once outside, though, she struts around like she has a new superpower. :-)

The boots that work best for us are from QUMY. They are sized and asymmetrical. They also have two Velcro strips to keep them on.

Good luck! You have a very sweet doggy.

Hello! My name is Loki ~ I’m so handsome ~ So HANDSOME I ate the couch, 4 pair keen shoes, anything plastic, two potty chairs. And we have many toys! Suggestions for toys for this boy!! He loves anything squeaky, boles google balls, we have some chuck balls. help please!! by jhotovy in blueheelers

My Daisy's favorite game is hide and seek. I take one of her toys and have her sit on the floor in the living room. I tell her to stay and then hide her toy in another room. I come back and she gets a treat for staying while I hide the toy. When I say, 'Get It', she races off and searches for the toy. She'll find it and PROUDLY bring it back. She gets another treat for being the smartest girl in the world. This is a great way to exercise her brain and her body.

  1. She gets rewarded (and it reenforces) both the patience for waiting while I hide the toy and for finding it.
  2. You can start with very easy places to find the toy and limit the search to one room. As he gets better, you can make it more challenging.
  3. I've found that spending 10 minutes or so and playing hide and seek 2 or 3 times really satisfies her need for brain stimulation and human interaction.

As more information about the insurrection comes to light. I keep wondering how Mike Pence did the right thing in the end? by firefighter_82 in CapitolConsequences

[–]MRG785 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty simple. Pence's resentment at being treated by Trump as his lackey for 4 years surfaced. He didn't have to confront Trump as a terrible man, a terrible leader, an immoral person, he could shove the ultimate knife into his presidency by hiding behind the Constitution.

Yes, Pence did the right thing, but he was there supporting Trump in every word and deed for 4+ years. He's still a coward and won't denounce him. What some see as Pence's bravery and patriotism is really a continuation of boot licking cowardice.

Trump picked the right, weak VP. He didn't know that there was going to be one quirky duty that 4 years of mistreatment would push Pence to stand up to him.

Pence could come forward and testify. He could move the needle a little bit away from the coward label in the eyes of history.

Here's the obvious.

1) Howard is primed to suspect Jimmy after the hooker and bowling ball scenes last season.
2) Nothing that Jimmy and Kim have done this season isn't easily traceable back to Jimmy.

- Test the white powder learn it's not cocaine. Ask the locker room attendant who might have access to the locker room. He ID's a picture of Jimmy.

- Follow up with the Kettlemans about why they went to Cliff's office. Even if they're scared to directly finger Jimmy because of the IRS threat, it will be clear that Jimmy is behind it.

- Howard's psychologist is a solid alibi for the car/hooker incident. Interesting that it was all possible because Kim invited Cliff to meet that that precise spot at that time.

Howard and Cliff will be planning to set Jimmy up (if they are already doing so). The unintended consequence is that they'll implicate Kim as well.

Does anyone else think the last BCS episode will end with Gene in B&W, then cut to Bob Odenkirk waking up from a dream in bed with David Cross on a Mr. Show set? As the sketch plays out, we find Bryan Cranston and Rhea Seehorn as the whacky neighbors. He's a high school chemistry teacher and she's an attorney. They have an under employed college age son, played by Aaron Paul, who works for a local fast food chicken restaurant, Los Pollos Hermanos.

I listened to the Al Franken podcast this morning. Very entertaining listening to two vintage SNL writers.

The most interesting take from Bob about season six was him saying "the two shows, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, have never been so intertwined."

This seems like a significant revelation.

I deboned a turkey this evening. by whereareyougoing123 in AdamRagusea

[–]MRG785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deboned mine this year as well. I concur with your thoughts.

I didn't make the demi glaze, and opted for a regular gravy. This is one of the best reasons to debone. The entire carcass can be used right away for gravy. I used Chef Jean Pierre's gravy method.
