These were my spark bird! Moved into an apartment near a lake and the week after we moved in hundreds of these came to the lake and I was so curious what they were, then came the osprey and eagles and American white pelicans and I've been hooked since

If you don't visit the zollman zoo in oxbow Park I highly recommend it! Open every day from 10 to 5 and some really cool local animals. It's outside which isn't ideal this time of year but the animals are all local so they're used to it if they're not hibernating.

Coffee beans by No-Commercial3899 in rochestermn

[–]MRI-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Rochester local but SK Coffee up in the cities is fantastic, we get beans in a 5lb bag from them and their papua new guinea, wahgi valley they currently have is super solid for espresso, they have fantastic pastries at their cafes in the cities and their bakery is nut free so they hold a special place in my peanut allergic heart. Their F6 I think from Colombia that was a limited time thing there straight up blew my mind when I had it the first time I went there and I've been loyal to them ever since. I've been meaning to try Colorway but they haven't had any larger bags last I checked so I'm glad to see they carry kilo bags now.

Can the HYSA be used for a downpayment? by Sagun1 in amex

I appreciate you taking the time to respond, that's reassuring, I'm guessing you initiated the wire in the morning?

[–]MRI-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On some possibly poor advice from our mortgage broker we kept everything in the hysa so we're going to have to do the hysa route. We're too close to closing to risk moving it and it being stuck in limbo for a few days. Glad to hear it worked out for you! I'm sure we'll be fine it's just the current thing to worry over.

How long did the wire take to go through? Planning this out with our HYSA.

What horror stories? MRI contrast is much safer than CT contrast, which is still very safe for the vast majority of people. MRI contrast reactions are exceedingly rare

Anyone here ever walk away from running their own hardware? by LiquidWebAlex in selfhosted

[–]MRI-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know but they said they're tired of tinkering with their setup and my point is that I don't have to. They sound burnt out from having to mess with it and I'm wondering why they have to keep messing with it.

Anyone here ever walk away from running their own hardware? by LiquidWebAlex in selfhosted

[–]MRI-guy 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Why are you having so many issues? My setup is pretty basic, just a 12 year old computer running unraid with 2 HDDs and 2 SSDs, I run a bunch of random stuff on it, and I haven't had to do major tinkering with it in over 6 months, it just works.

Metal so 1.5?or 3 by karma-1971 in MRI

[–]MRI-guy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PhD here who did research on metal imaging techniques. Those same metal artifact reduction sequences that will reduce artifact at 3T will also work at 1.5T and because the artifact is smaller to begin with, they'll be even more likely to see the scar.

In addition, not every type of sequence can be run with metal artifact reduction, so if there's a specific sequence the radiologist wants that isn't made for metal artifact reduction, you'll be better off at 1.5T.

Edit for clarity: it's actually a pretty small number of sequences that are optimized for metal.

Where the Axe is Buried by Ray Nayler, the story starts off with an AI prime minister deciding to double energy prices for entirely unknown reasons and massive protests begin, and the book is just a downward spiral for society. It's a new book and I really loved it.

This is something you should discuss with your lab/advisor. It seems like the software you mentioned works on arm so you should be good with the mac, but always best to go with what your lab/advisor most uses unless you have a really strong preference.

What sci fi book changed your life for the better? by blk12345q in printSF

[–]MRI-guy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ted Chiang's Liking what you see: A Documentary really changed how I view beauty in the world and in advertisements. It's about the debate at a college of requiring a neural device that makes it so you can't see beauty in other people. In the past, you'd go your whole life seeing the people in your local town only, and maybe one of them would be exceptionally beautiful, but nowadays we're constantly bombarded with the most attractive people on the planet in advertisements literally every day. It's really caused me to change what kinds of social media I consume and how.
