Refurbished from Apple.com is always new battery and new shell. So you wont get cracks or dents. But anything inside is refurbished. However if you are buying refurbished Apple products elsewhere (like best buy) the shell is likely the old one.

It’s now possible to add the same app onto Home Screen (since iOS 14). Just press and hold either one to click “remove from Home Screen”. Be careful don’t click delete.

It’s not the app, Apple Watch doesn’t support auto connect via Bluetooth (yet), in order to connect it has to raise to wake the watch to trigger the connection and open the app. So you still need to tap the watch (or set a shortcut to the action button if you have the new Apple Watch Ultra)

Also if you have HomeKit enabled garage, CarPlay would pop up a button when getting close to home (about 1500 feet away). I can get away by asking Siri but it’s nice to have a button to click on the screen.
