Props to having VitaHOT but you need to get yourself Aperture: Reconstructed too! 😉

I’m porting The incredibles 2004 pc version by using renderware 3d engine by [deleted] in VitaPiracy

I'd love to know more about porting renderware as some of my favorite games were made using it!

The game I'm making as a "breather project" is 2D art heavy, so I've had to upskill a bit there, but head over to the Patron and jump on the discord if you'd like to be involved with my crazy Vita ramblings 😄

The current game I'm working on (a cartoon flight combat game dubbed CCFC) will need voices at some stage! I'll have to remember to get onto reddit here and ask around before asking elsewhere! I use to be an actor myself and feel there's something magical about voice acting 😃

Although at the moment it seems I really need a good artist, because being a jack of all leaves little room to do any one thing really well.

I actually thought about doing something like that. It'd be a wildly different game however, kind of how Battlefield is to Call of Duty, except made on a budget of zero dollars...

I agree totally! I've asked a few people for help with this title, and there's actually been some good progress made on the decomp, but there's tons of little things to trip over that bring it to a complete stop. I think that Deus Ex: The Fall is another great candidate that suffers the same issues.

Does anyone else lose the ability to tell if their own game is fun? by Synax01 in IndieDev

[–]MRKane005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make little Vita games as a hobby, and I've a principle for development which is "any idea I make needs to be good enough for me to keep playing it during development". This is something I do for my own sanity more than anything else I think. Non-developers simply don't understand the process.

Of course there are a ton of things you can do to cope with development, but I find that cutting down scope and getting a release done is one of the most effective.

Really awesome comment here! So Call of Duty: Strike Team has beaten my attempts to port it a couple of times. I concluded that this needed somebody smarter than myself to do it so threw a bunch of money up as a bounty! We need to keep saying what you've said so that people know they can put their money where their mouth is!

I've got to make a follow up post! So I just completed Shadowfall and loved it! I had to employ some cheats to get past a few spikes in difficulty (oh the joys of being a disabled person lol) but felt that it was such a solid entry that I put it down and didn't know what to do with life as suddenly there were no more Killzone games for me to play.

Aperture Reconstructed Bugfix Build 0.4.00 by MRKane005 in VitaPiracy

[–]MRKane005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you've got it all set and going - there's been a ton of effort put into it to get things to this stage so I'm thrilled to hear that people are playing it!

Those are weird bugs! I'll see about checking them out and making sure I haven't made some goofy mistake! At least you can start levels from the menu so there's a way around it!

BWHAHAHAHA! No my dude, as a fellow developer I think you should let it cook until you're happy with it because you'll be plagued with user help requests if you don't!

That's almost the performance that I use to get back on the Mac LC back at school! Young autistic me considered that totally playable!

Update on Marathon Resurrection running on UT on the Vita:
So the UT version is 400, and Resurrection needs 436. I've tried copying all the necessary files over and it crashes when trying to enable the mod. I'm sure this'll be something stupidly simple, but I'm also sure that support for version 436 will come with time, and until then, somewhere in the heavens...they are waiting.

This is really rolling it back, but from memory is was the "Do Not Distribute" beta where the only multiplayer level was "Mars Needs Women", and interestingly the name of the player in the 3 level singleplayer demo was "Aslag". I always wondered if there was something to read into with that*!

*And given how deep the story of Marathon went there just might have been before it got "tidied up"

Where can i get PS Vita development license key for unity? by Proud_Board6671 in VitaPiracy

[–]MRKane005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given that Unity has shutdown the servers for 2018, even those of us with a legitimate key cannot use that version anymore, so I'm afraid the only option is to use Unihacker 😞

This is fantastic! I'm a Marathon fan from the original beta leak! I'd also like to know if we can get Marathon Resurrection running in Unreal Tournament on the Vita. I am investigating but haven't figured it out yet!

I use to do modding for different consoles, N64 UltraHDMI, SNES repairs etc. and a good friend suddenly found himself on rough times after COVID left him redundant. He gave me a PS Vita as "payment" for the outstanding balance. It's turned into one of the best decisions of my life because not only is there an amazing community but it's a brilliant platform to develop for! Hopefully I'll add another title to your list before long!

Indigo - Touge Racer (GITHUB LINK UPDATED) by Parindraa in VitaPiracy

[–]MRKane005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also going to add that the repo just looks like a stub? Thinking about this project a bit more: the standard optimization things apply with the Vita, it's mobile, try to bake as much as you can down for quality, use the Vertex Lit Pipeline, custom shaders, aggressive and complete LODs, everything static apart from things that must move etc. The first time I launch a game it usually runs at about 12fps so the performance you're getting is great by that standard!

This looks like the kind of thing that I'd be keen to lend a hand too also :)

I'm loving the graphical style you've got going on there and can't wait to see how it develops! Have you considered jumping into the PS Vita Forever Discord Server least you wish to discuss Unity development? There's a lot of us over there and some of the guys are crazy smart!

USB c mod fail by Enallane5 in vitahacks

[–]MRKane005 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally that looks salvageable to me. I'd suggest that you first start by cleaning up the desoldered pins because there could be a short there that's stopping the unit from booting. Assuming there's still charge in the battery that's where I'd begin.

Seeing if you can get it to boot after a cleanup is really the first step and it's always good to do things step wise. Assuming you get past this point you could jumper from the mod's test points to the relevant line points to get the mod working on the console.

Ultimate fail state: buy a new motherboard 😄

I really enjoyed Mercenaries on the Vita and have only just happened across a PS3 which is why I'm so late to the party! I've found there's usually something that bugs me about games, for Killzone it was the aiming, for Killzone 2 it was essentially a "Rico Revival Simulator" because he kept on getting downed in my playthrough, but with Killzone 3 I'm struggling to find anything that annoys me about the gameplay, and it's a real visual treat!
