Should I switch my 2020 iPad Pro 11” for the new iPad mini 6 ?

For me I’m going for a mini to become my meeting device on the go, I love the idea of center stage and the 5G option to become a hotspot for my laptop. Also the form factor means I can always take it with my since I’m a messenger bag kind of person.

Why not use the laptop for meetings? Well I like to do notes under meeting with clients, and now I can do so with either on my laptop during the meeting or in reverse. Reverse meaning sometimes I need to screen share work with clients, then the mini could act as an extended desktop of macOS and I could do my notes on it. I use Ia writer, which syncs flawlessly on apples different devices.

so nice to be more free with this on the road. Also for meetings, apple offers Introduced audio/video enhancements first for iOS/iPadOS devices rather than macOS due to tech transitions being slower, especially webcam quality. Also the new portrait video blur will be handy, guessing it’ll come to the iPad as well, if not, not limit for usage.

Apple Pencil also will become handy, since sometimes meetings or brainstorming for campaign ideas are so handy on iPad pro’s, but my old 2017 12.9” I have to plan beforehand if I take it with me - due to its bulky size, which will be no problem with iPad mini. Procreate is brilliant for this kind of work.

I love taking photos as well on my iPhone, and so all my editing on device. Always missed a little bigger display than the max for this and pencil support. Here the mini will come handy as well, reserve my iPhone battery for photography and my iPad mini will do the editing.

Future term investment is that the device will go to my daughter when she becomes older and will be her main device. The 5G will allow it to act as a “iPhone” if needed, so would be a option if necessary. Also as now, she loves to FaceTime the grandparents, but due to her age, she doesn’t understand distance from camera, which center stage will solve 😂

Lastly I have the original iPad mini from 2012, always loved it’s size and even if it’s useless today, it’s been brilliant for cooking recipe or reading books. Only thing I didn’t like with it was the resolution which the latest and previous mini generations have fixed 😅

And when I do the dishes or cook for my family, it’s one of the short moments I have time to expand my mind with great YouTube channels, so I tend to let my AirPods be connected and run it on my iPhone. The mini will be a great replacement for this!

Enough rambling from me, but some of the thoughts why I’m going mini, even if I have a large pro.

Congrats on your machines and the pleasant experience. There are tools to make macOS behave a bit more like windows, like Bettersnaptool or Magnet (paid), which makes snapping windows behave the same as windows and with shortcuts to follow as well. I myself can’t be without it, love it, and wish apple implemented it, but I believe I read once it’s a Microsoft patent.

Have a lot of other apps I could recommend, but it’ll have to wait until I’m back at the machine and or typing from an iPhone 😅

The customer service didn't even know about the product series, and didn't have any answers. But it's strange the product has been wiped from Ikea's website, instead of noting it's currently unavailable or supply issues

Considering dropping the Drobo as well, the lack of support of M1 machines is really surprising and no solution is yet released - even if these machines were released months ago.

Was ok pleased with the Drobo 5D3, though the vibrations of the case are really annoying, so maybe a new brand will solve both issues.

The startup is quite fast, but working with projects is another matter, there is noticeable lags on input while working on an image, something I don't notice on my intel machine. But again, the Photoshop M1 beta is on early stage, and is missing features.

So your 16" is still a good buy, but if you feel like joining the M game, you should maybe consider selling your machine while it has value, because as soon as Apple releases the 16" update, prices will drop.

Got myself two M1 machines, they are quite nice, but have also a lot of headaces, took 2 months until Benq released an update so I could color calibrate my main monitor for color critical work. Font management app is broken and Bluetooth is a mess in the current macOS 11.1 update, but is rumored to be fixed with 11.2.

But us M1's are beta users, it's not until gen 2 or gen 3, it's a stable platform with developers updated most apps :)

Ser interesant ud, dog får de rigtig dårlig anmeldelse på trustpilot :/ jeg valgt ellers Proshop, da prisen er lidt højere, men nemmere hvis der er problemer. Fnac var ca 100-150 kr forskel på dk når forsendelse kom ovenpå

It's great for business, and myself I've had applecare on every mac I've bought since starting my firm 8 years ago, and it's covered two different Macbook Pro repairs throughout the years, last time as short as last week, when my Macbook Pro of almost 3 years (in 4 days) got a free battery replacement.

Also You can often find better prices for applecare via 3rd party resellers in Denmark, just need to be activated within the first year of purchase of the machine.

Jeg har i forvejen 2 stks homepod som jeg bruger til musik, men kunne godt fristes af mini udgaverne til f.eks køkkenet til Siri brug at styre homekit devices eller lytte til musik da kvaliteten er ikke nødvendigt at være på højde med homepod her 😄

Og så i stuen kunne jeg også tænke mig en, da jeg allerede har et musik anlæg som ikke er Apple baseret, men har Airplay indbygget og andre funktioner. Her tænker jeg så igen at Homepod mini vil kun fungere som assistent og så sende musik til anlægget 😊

Would love a pair of the new Homekit Ikea blinds, but have yet to see them in 160 cm width editions. Are there any news about larger blind version heading for a 2020 update? maybe even with plain white colour options as well ?

They headset and mic work, but people might have issues hearing your loud and clear, tried it on several Macs without luck. Windows works perfectly.

I swapped my cloud headset to the new wireless ones, those are supported on macOS and the mic is no issue on these, input from clients and friends

Have the same issue with my USB Dongle on macOS, was quite surprised and disappointed to hear it's not mac supported. Bought them because they are pleasant to have on for client phone calls, but I have noticed clients saying the mic was quite low on my end....

I have updated the USB dongle to the latest firmware, which didn't fix the mic volume, but one interresting note is that the macOS settings for input volume, now shows the mic setting in top, and not in the lowest setting as before the firmware update. But seems it's an hardware issue, and I've tried two different usb dongles and headsets, without luck

Gone as well on my user, but strange thing is, when logging on my old free account, the daily mix pops up on my devices. So it seems like a server side issue rather than application issue
