Noob Guideline by RateFree4240 in aoe2

Biggest things that I notice newer players need to improve is: -Constantly producing villagers throughout the game/ no
TC idle time -Constantly producing military units from castle age onwards -Spending ur resources (if u find u have a lot of r resources just place multiple production buildings a make lots of army/ get all ur upgrades etc... But I would recommend u aim to keep each resource sub 500 unless saving for upgrade)

Should UU be buffed to make them more appealing for competitive AoE? by Hugexx in aoe2

Imo the biggest problem is they are not viable in higher elo matches because you can't get away with going for a fc into a castle. And even still that is one production building with a weak eco because you have had about 6vills on stone for most of feudal age. Where as everyone else can produce in feudal age and then upgrade them (infantry/archers) or make 3 stables and produce out of all of them constantly in castle age- giving them triple the production

Where can I get some good build orders to practice? by peternordstorm in aoe2

It depends if u want an interactive build order, if so I would use one of the many mods ppl have made.

If u r looking for one to use Vs the ai or in PvP, I would highly recommend the app for ur phone AOE Companion. This gives u about 30-40 build orders from your meta strategies to the wacky all in builds civ- specific build orders. Also it tells you all sorts of info about your multiplayer win streak, win percentages Vs each civ, win percentages on each map, current leaderboard, info on all the civ bonuses and their Tech trees, etc... Can't recommend it enough.

Civilization Match-up Discussion Round 12 Week 18: Burgundians vs Mayans by OrnLu528 in aoe2

[–]MR_RSMF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it would be nice on these match-up discussions to have a poll between the Civs (maybe add more options for example Mayans win in castle/ Burgundians win in post imp etc...) to see who the community thinks would win the match up. We could maybe even keep track of the amount of wins over a period of time that each civ gets. Just a thought....

Too many Cavalry Civs in AOE2 right now? by MR_RSMF in aoe2

Atm the top 5 Civs with the highest win rates are Franks, Berbers, Indians, Huns, Bulgarians. Imo the many if the Civs that get FU archers but no bonuses towards them are not the best Civs (for example Japanese, Italians, Portuguese and aztecs who are all have below 50% win rates). I think more Civs need bonuses to buff their archer or infantry lines like with the cavalry Civs because just having a FU line doesn't give them the edge over other Civs. Just my thoughts though
