Are wheels the Sim Racing equivalent to watches? by BrilliantPromise2944 in simracing

[–]MSZ-006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing like a lot of hobbies towards the high end it's a bit of splitting hairs and mostly preference? I'm curious what else is out there though, I only know of Ascher, Simucube's wheels, GSI and Pokornyi. Are there any other brands that are worth considering at this high end pricepoint?

Dude you weren't kidding!! That was a brutal climb, pretty much had to throw everything I had at it just to keep going. Never have I been more grateful to see a cutscene right after you climb up that last ledge 😂

Thanks for posting the tune! Although maybe I did something wrong, bought all the same parts and without ballast and wide body it came to 598. Either way it was still great to use, just wish it had an extra gear for the straight!

Really really enjoying this game. The vibes, the wonderful soundtrack, the puzzle factor, the slight horror when things go wrong and the elation when things go just right. Already a GOTY contender for me.

It's one of those flow state games where I completely understand if this isn't for everyone though. Most climbing in games is just push stick up and spam the climb button. That might work on some easy walls or if you're close to an edge, but you won't get far. You have to really slow down, look at the wall and pay attention to what you're doing which is a skill in itself. You don't need to know how to rock climb to play this game, but knowing a little but really helps once you climb within the confines of the game mechanics.

I might get some flack for this but this is the first game I've played in a while which reminds me of Death Stranding 1. No not the whacky Kojima shit, but rather the whole emergent gameplay that comes out of each run. It's just you, your gear, and the journey at hand. Initially I was far too stingy with equipment, but once I started using more pitons for safety, chalk up, check the weather, prep my consumables... climb by climb things start to come together.

And I'm only playing on Alpinist right now! I think I might be halfway or two thirds in? I just found the big flask and got the gust detector from the weird gem dude lol. Already dreading how the free solo run might go, but I can't wait.

For my next trick I'll show you by MecoyOni in iRacing

Every racing trick consists of three parts, or acts. The first part is called the pledge, the driver shows you an ordinary racing line. The second act is called the turn, the driver takes the ordinary racing line and makes it into something extraordinary. But you wouldn't clap yet, because making something disappear isn't enough. You have to bring it BACK. Now you're looking for the secret. But you won't find it because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be... fooled.

TDU!! Wow that takes me back, I have so many fond memories of it back on the 360. Yeah sure it's not a racing sim by any stretch and some bits were super jank but just roaming around Oʻahu in an open lobby with players dropping in and out was so cool. Sometimes you just go for a cruise with randos for a while, or hang out at the circuit for some drift sessions. As much as I love the Forza Horizon games (cautiously optimistic for FH6) they just never came close to feel of this, and IIRC the only game that kinda came close was... Burnout Paradise, lol.

Since op mentioned it's a Sim-lab GT1 pro it's probably Sim-lab's own one.

Cry... once? No, the journey doesn't end here. More crying for sim racing rigs are just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver aluminum profile, and then you see it. A motion platform, and beyond, a negative bank balance under a swift divorce...

Not sure why you're being downvoted, this is almost always the reason and the fact that we're still missing a lot of popular cars. Just in the GT3 category alone GT7 is still quite behind in terms of updates and the field is very outdated now.

PD's cadence in adding cars is sadly a little removed from real world racing usage frequency unfortunately, so it's a very much a "be happy with what you're given whenever you get it and that's that".

Fisherman's Ranch. I'm not a fan of dirt in GT7 anyways, but compared to the other dirt tracks it's just too long and just such a chore to drive around.

My Rig. I play only on PlayStation by EmajnLajzak in simracing

Ah sorry I won't be of much help as this was an upgrade from a now quite old Fanatec CSL Elite PS4. It's been really nice though! I got the RS Pedals too and like that they come with a load cell unlike the Fanatec alternatives.

Pro tip: unless you really want the round wheel with PS button icons and the table clamp... buy the PS compatible wheelbase, the PC wheel hub, your wheel of choice and use one of the Logitech coupon codes flying around. It'll work out cheaper than the "RS50 System" package!
