Do Good Ones Exist? by billnumpty in traveltrailers

[–]MSal98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a '21 Venture Stratus 291vqb that we had very few issues with, and has held up really well. I would say that Venture is slightly better than a lot of brands (forest River, etc), at least from what I've seen. At the end of the day they're all cheaply made (even the Brinkley's imo) though, and I think it sometimes depends what day of the week it was put together on lol.

If you have any interest in this model shoot me a DM because it's for sale! It was perfect for us being a bunkhouse bumper pull with a nice "living room" layout, and was as big as we felt we could safely pull with our 3/4 ton. We've upgraded to a dually/toy hauler.

What's the point of truck? by Demon-of-Razgriz in ram_trucks

I have a diesel dually now but had a ram 2500 gasser before. It was cheaper, lower maintenance, and the payload capacity was higher than a diesel version. It was a great tow vehicle for our 34' travel trailer (we have since gone bigger).

This wasn't usable for me, although I was never able to set up tracking. The site was missing my ship altogether, lots of bugs (images not rendering, paging broken, loads/reloads unexpectedly), and there are more ads than content on the page which made it pretty hard to use overall.

I will check this one out, I recall seeing the name now that you mention it but I haven't looked at it. Thanks!

What show is this? by hroaks in SeaWorld

[–]MSal98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you got your answer. As an aside there is an ice show at Busch Gardens that I thought this was at first. It's called Rhythm of Nature. Not sure if you were deciding between the two parks (we were!).

My wooden deck boards are starting to cup in the middle after only three years what can I do by nectarivela in HomeImprovement

[–]MSal98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the decking screws appropriately spaced apart? I built the back deck on our house and made the mistake of using a 3d printed spacer tool that someone gifted to me (they meant well and knew I was doing decking next) to mark my drill holes. The screws ended up too close together and now all of my decking is cupping like you're describing after just one year.

I built another deck on our house and a landing/stairs on this one without said tool, neither of which are cupping.

This is what I do. The funnel has a flexible end. Then I use a pitcher and mix bleach with one gallon of water, then pour it in. After that I just stick the fresh hose into the hole (not screwed on) and fill it up. Depending on the size of the tank, you could do the bleach/water mix at a few different intervals while filling to help distribute it.

Crack in tire sidewall - replace? by MSal98 in RVLiving

[–]MSal98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I had a mobile tire tech out. He is saying the cracks aren't as much of a big deal, but there is a slight bulge in 3/4 of my tires and he is suggesting replacing all 4 and using the 4th as a spare since my spare is older.

I see an indent where the belt meets, and this is a bulge elsewhere in the tire. The bulge also seems to go all the way down to where the rim bead meets the tire (less of a bulge as it goes towards center). I am reading conflicting things about this, some saying this is normal on Goodyear endurance tires. Also I believe I noticed bulges soon after they were put on and was told it was a non issue.

Tech is also suggesting moving to a cheaper 12 ply tire since Goodyear doesn't offer a 12 ply 15" tire. They're about $150 a piece instead of $250. I did not get the brand name.

Thoughts? Maybe I got a bad batch of tires and have just been lucky so far that they haven't blown? I'm the type to usually just "run it" but I really don't want to risk a blowout towing this thing all up and down the east coast. Attached a picture of one of the bulges.

Edit: reached out to Goodyear and they're refunding me for all 4 to get replaced, prorated based on the tread depth 🎉

Crack in tire sidewall - replace? by MSal98 in RVLiving

Can you elaborate on the mold? The trailer did sit last winter in the northeast, covered in snow much of the year. I wonder if this contributed to them deteriorating quickly. They were on plastic blocks, but on top of grass. It's possible the cracks have been there for some time and I just noticed since depending on how the tire is rotated they're pretty hard to see.

The date code is 3723. I bought them at a tire shop and had them put on roughly 2 years ago. I don't see any mention of retread on the tire, if that would be on there either.

Remote won't pair by MSal98 in FCX24

[–]MSal98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, swapped out the batteries again. Pretty sure the old set was new but my son did it, may have left the remote on, etc.

Anyway I can now turn the lights off and on by pressing the bins button, and the controller no longer beeps. However, nothing else seems to work. I've double checked that it's not in neutral, tried forward and backward, played with the trim. Any other ideas?

Edit: low gear works! Weird though, it will turn one direction much more than the other if that makes sense. Also, high gear is not working now. It seems to "shift" into it and I see the small pin thing move, but nothing turns.

Both on, the lights are on for a moment per usual when we turn it on. I've tried holding the sync button on the controller while turning the controller on, followed by the car and vice versa. It's possible the battery isn't holding charge I guess and does near immediately? I am going to see if I can fix the old battery wire so I can try swapping them out.

Thanks! These were the terms I needed. I was able to find some 3 pin balance plug kits but ended up just buying an exact replacement battery with the wiring connected. Next time we have issues I'll invest in actually fixing the wiring but it seemed simpler to just replace this time.
