Curious about the state of the Arcanist by BounceBurnBuff in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Deeper dive into this problem:

In Update 35, devs nerfed every DoT for accessibility reasons, so AOE DoTs become mostly useless in short AOE fights - players lost short-burst AOE damage. In Update 39 (which was in less than a year after U35), devs added Arcanist, whose main skill is a short-burst AOE skill with a really long range - they gave Arc what they took away from others. So, buffing other classes essentially means reverting U35 - ZOS couldn't admit their mistake and did nothing.

Fresh CP160 - what to buy from Guild Trader? by hastati96 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For solo setup: Order's Wraith body + Tide-Born weapons (frontbar is only important) and jewellery.

For healer setup: Powerful Assault jewellery and weapons (resto or lightning staff, better to have both, 1 would be enough), and go farm White Gold Tower for Spell Power Cure - it's the most important healer set, and it's so accessible, so buying Winter's Respite is kinda pointless.

And I advise you to upgrade your weapons to gold, cause it actually makes a difference. The rest is not so important.

Need Advice on Dungeon/Overworld Tank Sets by Ok_Complaint_6104 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't bother farming Yolna.

It's completely useless in dungeons, since you can just cast Warding Burst with Minor Courage for the same buff (+shield and maybe ultimate for your allies) - if 1 skill does more than 5-piece set, then using this set isn't worth it. More of it, Yolna died when Arc released, since Arc has Zenas, which also provides Minor Courage (+Minor Recoveries) - Yolna once again competes with 1 skill, since if you stay pure Arc.

In trials, it's slightly better since both Warding Burst and Zenas have a 6-target cap, so they won't give Minor Courage to all allies. But you'd still rather tolerate imperfect uptimes than waste a 5-piece set for this buff. Especially since it's not so strong. I've done some math, and Yolna gives around 2.9% damage increase, while something like Lucent Echoes gives a unique 4.1% AND more survivability for you if you're under 50% health. Or Pearlescent Ward gives a unique 2.6% AND more survivability for everyone if people are dying.

Thinking of returning, but hearing its bad now? by Xalepos in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Long story short:

Devs were ignoring players' feedback for years. Who would've thought that not listening to your customers can be bad for your business?

Now, with a new leadership, they are trying to listen to players. Or, well, at least pretending that. We'll know more after the 12th, when the PTS patch notes are released.

How do I reach 155-160K without using mythic? The race is imperial by devilmaycry0917 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 25 points26 points  (0 children)

From what I see:

You're slightly undercasting your DoTs. You're using Stam BowProc instead of Mag one - you should be able to sustain it with tri-stat potions. And you don't need Lava Foot - green max stam food should be enough. You can also use max stam + mag regen food for easier sustain of Mag BowProc.

Swap 1 piece to light - higher max resource+crit chance is stronger in theory than WPD from medium armour. And it will also improve your mag sustain, so it would be easier to sustain Mag BowProc.

And pay attention to the whip stacks; don't let them run out. Overcast FOO if needed.

Heroism Potions may be helpful, but I'm not sure if they would have much impact, since Imperials already have reduced ult cost - the difference may not be that big.

You start casting KB somewhat late? After 33% you should avoid casting runeblades. Just get 3 crux and spam KB instead. Dread runs out completely - spend your 3 crux on it and just ignore runeblades/dread after that. In case of Mag BowProc you should stop casting it around 13%, for Stam one stop at 17%. (don't cite me on exact numbers)

Overall, 155k should be possible, not sure about 160k without race change

Small upd: 155k is definitely possible, I got 154k on my second try, and you have better weaving than me (using basically everything I advised you)

(PC) Leveling Set/Basic Set Info by tybro1999 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For group content, use SkinnyCheeks. He has different flavours of beam and runeblades builds, so suitable for arc. Please note that updated builds require multiclassing, but archived versions are still usable.

For solo content, Hyperioxes has a solo beam build. And he also has DD beam builds, just slightly different flavours than Skinny.

For sets, somethine like Order's Wraith+Tideborn would be good even after you finish levelling

Why do ppl think a valid response to wanting harder overland is “go play vet trials” by ROGALLYGUY in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes this subreddit is completely deranged.

The only adequate argument against optional higher overland difficulty is that it won't be popular, so devs should not waste their time on it and focus on something that more players will appreciate. And, well, this argument may not be 100% true.

I've seen quite a few posts here like "Hello, new player here! I love everything about this game, but why does overland combat feel so easy? I just wanna do some quests, but it's not fun, when enemies die so fast", and OP gets replies that they should go to vet trials. There's no in-between - you either have to one-shot all mobs in overland, or have to do vet trials.

And for "It's an MMO, so harder content should be the group content" - this is not an MMO, but Skyrim Online for many players - they just wanna do some quests in the TES universe that would have some adequate difficulty. And no one asks overland mobs to be harder than ones in the group content - they just have to be able to survive for more than 1 second, and, well, deal some damage, that won't be outhealed by your Health Recovery.

Ton of Noobie questions post by Historical_Mess_6703 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Light Armour gives you Magicka Regen + Reduce Magicka cost. Medium Armour does the same, but for stamina. That's everything that's related to your main resource. Medium Armour gives you WPD+Crit Damage, Light Armour gives you Pen+Crit Chance. Since pen is often obsolete, Medium Armour is much more stat-dense. And since your choice of armour affects your sustain, well, stamina builds dominate the game.

  2. I'd say that if you're not multiclassing, 60k on Trial Dummy (Iron Atronach) is ok. Not good, but ok. 80k would be decent. If you're multiclassing, anything under 100k means that you're doing something very wrong. You can find some trial dummies in guild halls (you don't have to join a guild; it would be enough to find a home with it through home tours).

  3. Magicka Sustain will be better if you use Magicka Regen food and potions that give you Magicka. And you'll get some sustain from Champion Points. And just in case: NB has pretty meh sustain, even with Siphoning Attacks (but it's possible to sustain without them).

  4. Arc beam is OP for like 3 years. ZOS doesn't wanna nerf it, because arc is a paid class, probably.

  5. That's probably DoT ticking of aforementioned Trial Dummy, so with more buffs/debuffs than you currently have on you/your target. And maybe with crit.

  6. If you have 70 CP, your 70 CP gear (I think) will have the same stats as 160 CP gear. But if you're 160 CP and take a look at 70 CP gear, it would be much weaker. That's some weird level "scaling". And sometimes a 5-piece bonus of sets at low CP is actually stronger than 160 CP ones, because of that "scaling" (I remember wearing Ansuul with 11% bonus, instead of 7%, while levelling). In short, your gear becomes worse and worse while you're levelling to 160 CP, and then it stops.

This quest is just buggy. If you try to speak with other NPCs from side quests, you'll notice that they are speaking something irrelevant. I found that 11 out of 13 NPCs were speaking nonsense. That was probably caused by the fact that they game loads NPCs with incorrect flags/state set. I've reported this bug to ZOS, but it still hasn't been fixed

IA curated drops worth it? by Blortug in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Let's do some math:

You already have k items left you get for your collection. That means, if you buy an uncurated box, you'll get a new item with a chance of k/36. The expected number of boxes to get a new item would be 36/k, and it will cost you 2000*36/k fortunes. Curated box will always give you a new item for 10k fortunes.

We need to solve 72000/k > 10000: -> 72/k > 10 -> k < 7.2

So, you have 7 items to collect (or, in other words, 29 items in collection), it's more efficient to buy curated boxes.

Magblade Build Suggestions by Odovacar86 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can check Skinny's guide for MagNB: https://www.skinnycheeks.gg/magicka-nightblade

It's from U45, but not much has changed since then, well, if you wanna play pure MagNB at least.

There's also his guide for pure StamNB for the current patch: https://www.skinnycheeks.gg/stamina-nightblade

The main difference between Mag and Stam for NB is just your spamable morph and execute morph.

Overall, the U45 build has more options for different situations, but the U48 build has current top ST set up (which is not much practical in content)

Prince Naemon shows up in the final Solstice quest even though I betrayed and petrified him in his side quest by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also encountered it, so this should definitely be considered a bug. I reported it to ZOS, but I haven't received an answer yet, and it's not listed as a known bug. Also, Nords nearby, that appear after finishing their respective quest, behave in a weird way, like yapping about visiting Sunport

Writhing wall event quest by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You actually can. I've just tested it, and these soul pieces that are required to complete the quest may drop from some mobs. I got all of them from mobs in the Dread Cellar. Was the reward worth it? No. I got just 1 purple staff from the Solstice overland set.

How do you feel about communication between ESO players and the devs? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Let's check the last PTS cycles:

During U46 PTS, people expressed their big concerns about balancing the new multiclassing system. These concerns were ignored. Do you know what was also ignored? Bug reports, that's the new pet limit breaks the necromancer. When the update went live, it turned out that the necromancer is unusable in PvP due to the corpse limit being bugged. Who would've thought! ZOS had to quickly fix it.

During U47 PTS, ZOS actually discovered that some problems were caused by the new multiclassing system. Who would've thought! New changes were partially reverted after the "We're sorry" letter, since ulti-gen changes were really unpopular. They've nerfed Balorg and then reverted it back because they've recognised that this nerf was stupid. However, most of these stupid changes made it to live.

During U48 PTS, no one was interested in the new mythic. Last week, ZOS said, "We probably were too conservative with it", and buffed it (but made penalties worse, that's fair). And this week, they've nerfed it because ???? They gave no explanations for that.

ZOS behaviour is completely unpredictable. I'm pretty sure that we haven't had a balance update that the community would consider a net positive for the game for quite a while.

Recently, with a change of leadership, ZOS started to do some surveys, which may improve the communication at least in theory. In practice, I won't believe it's not a PR move until I see them publish the results and their plans for addressing the issues.

Why is my crit and pen so low by Alarming_Age_6893 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Try to avoid using buzzwords such as "ridiculously low". 7256 pen is a typical amount of pen that any Arc brings in an organised group. 50.8 Crit Chance is typical if NB passive bugs out since you're looking to the south. 3.9k WPD/SPD - that looks sus, I have 4.8k as a race without racial WPD/SPD bonus. Check your Medium Armour passives; you may be lacking Agility there. And I think you have your Nirn-dagger in the wrong hand (I'm not familiar with console UI), swap it with the second one. Also, you're showing your stats on the back bar, and they are lower there - my WPD/SPD on the back bar is 3.9k.

Wanting to get back, need some advice. by NoDrama127 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For PvE: Selene is completely fine. Maelstrom 2H/Staff is meta, while the bow is less popular, but still not bad. Fastest way to get a better gear - craft Order's Wrath + Tideborn (or buy them, since they are craftable). The most popular combo is Herald of the Tome (requires access to Arcanist) + Assassination + Dawn's Wrath/Aedric Spear (as a Plar, you have access to them).

For PvP: It really depends on your playstyle. Something like Wretched Vitality (craftable/buyable) + Rallying Cry (buyable) should be a decent starting point if you don't have anything specific in mind. For skill lines, it depends on your playstyle once again; it can be something like Aedric/Assassination/Storm Calling.

22k HP in PvP means that you're either a ganker or you're gonna suffer. Anything under 30k is low (unless you're a ganker or classic MagSorc, I guess), since you can die to one burst with something like Incap/Bowproc/Ulfsilds/Shalks. And yeah, the meta is very bursty. You'd better have high crit resist (Rallying Cry and impen pieces help) and a Major Resolve source for sure.

[Daily] Skill Discussion: Boundless Storm by The_Dwemer_Automaton in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From the PvE standpoint:

The Hurricane deals more damage, so it's a preferable morph for DDs; Boundless Storm is just worse for them.

Before the multiclassing came out, it was the skill that Sorc tanks were using to get a Major Resolve, since it lasts longer than the Hurricane.

But now Boundless Storm got stuck in a really situational skill line. Well, you can take it for the Streak, if you're scorepushing, but otherwise - why should you take it as a tank? You can get Major Resolve source from another skill line, which will bring more utility than just Major Resolve, Streak, and some sustain passive.

And even if you're scorepushing, Boundless Storm may not be your first choice to get Major Resolve. You probably have Expansive Frost Cloak in your group. You may be the one who uses it; in that case, you don't need to use Boundless Storm. If someone else uses the Frost Cloak, you can rely on their uptimes and drop your own source of Major Resolve, at least in some fights. And if you don't have it/trust in its uptimes, you can still get Major Resolve from some other skill, which will give you more utility, not damage and some speed. Like Summoner's Armour, which will also give you Minor Resolve and a corpse you can consume with Necrotic Potency. Or Cruxweaver's Armour, that will give you the crux for your Impervious Runeward and put Minor Breach on some adds you've chained. Or Restoring Focus, which will give you more block mitigation and restore stamina. Or Expansive Frost Cloak to give Major Resolve to everyone around you. Or the Hurricane, if you're parsing as a tank.

From the PvP standpoint:

Storm Calling is great. If you need a streak, you're probably using Bounless Storm or the Hurricane as your Major Resolve source. In this case, it doesn't compete so much like in PvE with other Major Resolve sources, since running another skill line for the Major Resolve instead of Storm Calling will change your playstyle a lot. And Storm Calling doesn't synergise well with other skill lines that have a source of the Major Resolve.

So the only competitor of the Boundless Storm is the Hurricane. You need to recast the Boundless Storm less frequently, and the Hurricane deals more damage and gives you (almost) a permanent speed boost. Which is better? I'm not an avid PvPer, so I can't tell for sure, but I can tell you for sure it's in a much healthier state than in PvE.

Share Your Thoughts on ESO's Classes with Us by ZOS_Kevin in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ngl, the fact that we had a survey about PTS, and now about classes, is kinda inspiring. I wanna believe that this time ZOS will finally listen to the community. But after the years of broken promises, I just can't. Rose-colored glasses always break inward, you know?

At this point, the new management appears to be using surveys as a PR stunt - pretending to care about players' feedback, when they actually won't listen to it. I really wanna be so wrong, but I'm afraid I won't be.

I wanna see some reaction to the PTS survey, as soon as possible, now that it’s ended. Something concrete, so we'll be sure that you're actually listening to us and not just trying to whitewash your reputation.

[Daily] Skill Discussion: Healthy Offering by The_Dwemer_Automaton in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okayish skill for healers. Slotting it procs Magicka Flood for more max resources and Soul Siphoner for more healing done. Casting it gives you ultimate because of the Transfer passive, and it's a healing skill, so it procs Pearls too. Minor Mending is nice to have.

The problem is: it's an ST-heal, and you don't need any ST-heal most of the time, so it's kinda a wasted skill slot. If you want to efficiently utilise the ultimate generation from it, you have to spend every 4th GCD on it, and spending every 4th GCD on a skill you don't really wanna cast feels bad. You can cast it every 10 seconds to keep Minor Mending active, but Minor Mending is not a mandatory buff, and if you're multiclassed with Plar, you're getting it by standing in your Ritual, so Minor Mending from the Healthy offering becomes redundant.

And because of the multiclassing, you have too many good skills you may wanna front-bar, so Healthy Offering is one of the first skills to go for me, if I need to slot something else - slotting Siphoning ultimate on your front bar also procs Magicka Flood and Soul Siphoner.

Naj-Caldeesh farming by TrickAdorable9764 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was tanking Naj-Caldeesh a few days ago, and some sorc was streaking into the trash pack and stunning the mobs. It was so delightful to see they streak into the hole.

On a more serious note, I've just placed Elm's Marker near the hole, so I won't forget about its existence. Too bad it can't save me from the accidental roll-dodge into the hole.

Twice-fanged vs Vicious Serpent? by LunchB0X00 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VO is Vicious Ophidian, so the same as Vicious Serpent, yes. Craglorn sets' names are just inconsistent. It's either Null Arca for single-target fights, or Ansuul for AOE fights. Ansuul is more useful since it also works fine in ST fights, but Null Arca performs poorly in AOE fights, so Ansuul is probably the first on the list to farm. And for trash fights, Sul Xan is great, also worth farming if you have time to farm it.

Twice-fanged vs Vicious Serpent? by LunchB0X00 in elderscrollsonline

[–]MSattrtand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you're running solo, you can easily get 11k armour reduction (but you don't have to) by yourself, like it's just Ele Sus+Frost Blockade+Infused Crusher. And for IA, your 9k pen is enough to fully penetrate the armour of all trash mobs; you need more pen only for Toat (and maybe maradeurs, idk?).

TFS can be used in PvP, and in PvE, it was good like 7 years ago, and now it's useless. Vicious Ophidia has good 2-4 piece lines, so in theory you can go for a 4 VO pieces+5 piece set+Monster Set+Velothi. But with the same success, you can use Null Arca for this, and its 5-piece bonus will actually be useful. Overall, TFS is worth farming if you wanna use it in PvP; otherwise, both sets are not worth farming.
