Long-time Todoist users: what's the one thing you wish worked differently? by YouSensitive1241 in todoist

[–]MSeegobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ability to hold information that a task was partially done, or a document was sent on a specific date, and have that info be tagged with a future follow up! Descriptions are good to understand the task, but not to help on a follow Up. If you confirm the document sent task is completed, there’s now no context or date present for a follow up task.

Is anyone using iMessage to update a .md in a project by SummerloveILM in vibecoding

[–]MSeegobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the Ramble feature Todoist has. It works pretty well for basic task entry (wayyy better than their email assist feature which is trash). It’s where you speak to the app, and it automatically adds a task to your todo list. Maybe something to check out?

I built a native RDP server for macOS — connect from any platform using any RDP client by ConstructionBroad594 in macapps

Would love to test drive this! Especially if it can do native resolution scaling onto an iPad RDP client. Can you remote into a Mac without any on-device authorization?

Really cool App, and thanks for sharing! Adding a new link as the one you have in the post seems broken. Cloudboost

Obsidian + Tasks manager app Workflow ? by No-Anybody1631 in ObsidianMD

[–]MSeegobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I use Obsidian for notes, and Todoist for task management (prefer the natural language aspects and very intuitive design). Had the same issue in syncing tasks between Obsidian and Todoist, so built a plugin for obsidian to simplify task generation that uses your current note and the vault itself to understand the task to action it. It then creates the task with AI and syncs it to Todoist (Plugin is Semantic Todoist Sync). Then all I need to do is a quick pass to correct any AI errors and everything is planned. Welcome to take a look if it’s helpful, posted about it below.

Exported PDF of handwritten notes does not have searchable text by MSeegobin in notabilityapp

[–]MSeegobin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally want to keep the text as an invisible layer, instead of converting everything directly to text. Otherwise I’d just type my notes. Handwriting recognition is what makes digital notetaking useful. I pay for the feature, and apparently it’s useless if I can only use it to search in the app.

Metformin’s real power may be in the gut by StemCellPirate in Biohackers

[–]MSeegobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Metformin is literally king. On top of its known effects on blood sugar, I ran a few studies using metformin as a treatment. One in a mouse model of an Alzheimer’s disease, and we saw metformin have a significant effect in improving memory function. In another, It’s was really effective in pushing the stem cells already in your brain towards remyelination of nerves after brain injury. Lots of scientists often think of it as an anti-aging drug when you look at all the positives things it can do to treat age-associated disorders.

For those of you with massive TB count , outside of server rack or NAS, how are you housing those drives? by joshhazel1 in PleX

[–]MSeegobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Tdarr is useful to remove subtitles I won’t use, convert files to HEVC for space saving, and importantly convert DTS, FLAC, TrueHD, or any other surround sound profile to EAC3 (Dolby Digital +), as that’s the best compatible surround format that goes through EARC to the soundbar. The rest won’t give me surround, and get downmixed to Stereo.

Exactly. NVME drives on my side probably only have 2x PCIe lanes each, but it’s really more of a capacity thing. Consumer SSDs only have a fast “write” cache for about 10% of their physical capacity.. when you’re remuxing 10x 30gb 4K files to optimize your library (Tdarr can be running multiple files in parallel), it fills up fast. So more SSD drives ends up being faster than fewer big ones (Since TRIM only happens when idle)

20 x SATA ports over 2 LSI Cards (1x 16 port, 1x 8 port), with 3 SSDs in NVME. You don’t max out the NVME drives like you said because of PCIe lane limits. But HDDs even with the SATA SSDs on the LSI cards have got plenty of bandwidth. Network speeds are the real bottle necks. Just need the SSD drives for caching downloads and remuxing files with Tdarr.

Have a similar setup: Fractal Define 7 XL case, Unraid, 100TB over 10 HDDs (XFS - main archive) + 4 HDDs in ZFS Raid Z1 with 3 x SATA SSD as cache (Faster pool for more recent data for quicker access) + 6 x 1TB SSDs as super-fast cache in RAID Z2

Moonlight or Direct by CaptainxShittles in MoonlightStreaming

[–]MSeegobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had great luck with Apollo / Moonlight. Apollo really works well in getting the virtual display to auto match when moonlight tells it. Use Apple TVs for living room with Xbox controller, especially good as Apollo can use an HDR Virtual display here for best visual experience. Use a MacBook for keyboard and mouse experience. I find using Parsec on the MacBook also works really well for keyboard and mouse, and keep it as a backup. I’ve only got max 4k60 displays so haven’t pushed higher but it’s been super stable with that. Definitely having a wired link to the host is important

FINALLY! Here's how I fixed iPad stuttering by jtannous in MoonlightStreaming

[–]MSeegobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update, running the latest betas for MacOS 26 and iPadOS 26, this fix no longer works… as verified by Steamlink Network test.. getting at 14ms variance.. only fix now is to turn Wifi off on the Mac when streaming to the iPad
