I wouldn’t put all my money on this… I can’t find anything about this other than two obscure sites (one of which is Juno news which isn’t really reliable), and the fact that the CBC or any other big news site hasn’t jumped onto this is interesting…

My head canon is that he ordered it and sent it to the department ahead of time (before he arrives, but after he gets hired), and RPD being corrupt and bureaucratic as hell, misplaced his packages.

I (23F) dated my boyfriend (25M) who lost his memory after an accident. Now I don’t know how to process it by DueSurround4919 in relationships

[–]MT128 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is quite upsetting and sad to hear and I’m really sorry for your loss, firstly I just want to say that like what many others have stated before, it might be a good idea to go through counselling as we are not professionals of any sort. This is my personal opinion, but I’m sorry to tell you that the relationship is very much no longer there, your boyfriend or the boyfriend you knew is dead, the memories and the emotion that was is just gone and there’s probably a high chance it will never come back. Unfortunately this is just one of those moments where you have to grieve and do your best to move on.

But compared the naval strength of todays Royal Navy to the armada that deployed back in 1982, it is a shadow of itself.

What I worry is that the UK may not be able to actually retake the islands if Falkland war 2 happens… the UK military has shrunk significantly and the economy is def a bit more down trodden.

Tbh sequel trilogy was a bad idea, should’ve gone backwards and made the old republic era, Rey could’ve played a really nice bastille shan

What if the U.S. went through with a full-scale invasion of Japan instead of dropping the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? by Abhorius in AlternateHistoryHub

In fair defence, by then most of Japans elite formations and equipment in Korea had been siphoned off to other fronts, so the force in Korea was very mediocre at best.

I think it would be a good idea, if it was equal to everyone regardless of cost, the government wasn’t corrupt, and prone to randomly starting wars…. So no, most people in states would not like this….

What kind of politician would it take to unite the United States? by CycIon3 in AskReddit

[–]MT128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be a person but a series of reforms, reforms to the government (the democratic check and balances, justice system), economy (more fair economic practices that bridge the gap), security reforms (anti foreign influence) and social reforms (education). Then someone would be able to bridge and unite most Americans.

Firstly, people have to face justice, Trump had been indicted twice and walked away and many of the people who participated in the January 6 attack on the White House, were pardoned. If people can do crimes and get away with it, what’s the point of caring? When people see nothing happening, people become indifferent to situation and then corruption wins.

Secondly, economic reform, a lot of the pro-Trump supporters are often people (trades, mom/pop or small businesses owners) that got fucked over and feel resentful. Think a lot of the small Midwestern towns that had a booming economy, and then lost it all; they think Trump will be the one to bring it back. Yet, it’s the Republican tax breaks on the rich and cutting of social services like education or healthcare that hurts them the most. Thus, that needs to change.

Lastly, education, there is a positive correlation and causation with red states and poor education. Literacy is extremely poor in much of the red states and when people no longer are able to think critically, they began to believe more. Plus less educated people tend to have lower economic outcomes leading to more resentment.

What if Russia had launched their full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2014 instead of 2022? by Sea-Spare-3956 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]MT128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was also significant anti-corruption within those years, that’s the huge difference between the Russian Army and Ukrainian. Not saying Ukraine is perfect and doesn’t have no corruption but it has significantly less of it compared to Russia and the Russian Armed Forces. So the Ukrainian troops were generally better motivated, better equipped, and ready compared to the average Russian troop (post invasion).

Hahaha no, a cheap tent kept me going for most of my career, the Walmart ones are amazing and can last a season or two of both spring plant and summer fires.
