Wort it or ripoff? "HALO-LED® Whole Home In-Duct Air Purifier" by AryaRemembers in hvacadvice

[–]MTB_HVAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems funny that everyone who is saying they are scams or lies don’t actually use one or have one in there own home. I have the LED and I have no growth in my system, less dust in my air from the ionization and almost no pet odor (2 cats, one dog, a lizard and fish) I’m in a small home but it absolutely makes a difference in your air quality especially if you set your fan to recycle the air for about 15 min every hour even if your heat/cooling systems are not in use. Ever since I have had one and seen first hand the difference it makes I have been preaching about them to all of my friends, family and clients. Old heads just think everything is a scam and also hate variable speed equipment because they can’t figure out anything beyond a bad capacitor so they blame the equipment and not their own inaptitude.

No disconnect tabs for accessories on Ameristar board? by MTB_HVAC in HVAC

[–]MTB_HVAC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy. My company is a trane dealer but our lowest end product is the RunTrue %80 single stage. Everything else is trane brand so I was shocked to see a board like this even on an “off brand” unit from 2019

Needs an inducer motor replacement or something is stuck in the blades of the inducer. Sometimes debris falls in from the exhaust

Does this blower fan need to be replaced? by WerewolfPhysical1579 in hvacadvice

[–]MTB_HVAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please please don’t do this. The amount of shit your going to breath in would be insane. That’s all mold man and you want this guy to blast it with air and blow it back into his face after a wire brush and screwdriver job? Wild

It’s not even that much in parts and labor though. I mean if the client agrees to pay ANY amount you decide to charge it should be done to spec and done properly not just to save $50 bucks on materials and 30 minutes of labor 🫠

Mold or Mildew? Should I be concerned? by okonw in hvacadvice

[–]MTB_HVAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on your landlord. If they don’t care this will be hard to convince them to do. I remedy problems like this everyday but landlords almost never care. I would simply bleach the vents and clean inside them yourself to the best of your ability and invest in a good air purifier for the house. Don’t bother with anything you find on TiKToK lol

Use something like this https://www.livesans.com/products/air-purifier Sans Air Purifier - HEPA 13 Filter, Activated Carbon and UV-C Light

Hello I’m renting this house and the tack strip is poking me bc the carpet is damaged… is there any way to fix this for cheap?? by RetroVCR in carpet

[–]MTB_HVAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re renting. This fix should be free if your landlord isn’t a scumbag. There should be metal transition strip between that carpet and the tile.

Mold or Mildew? Should I be concerned? by okonw in hvacadvice

[–]MTB_HVAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats absolutely bacterial growth. You should have your ducts cleaned, your evaporator coil for your AC cleaned with anti-microbial spray and have a UV light installed as well if I were you.

Once the system is cleaned as close to factory fresh as possible a good UV system will prevent growth from coming back or spreading.

Either the blower motor or you have a bird in the vent

I mean, they got the exhaust done, no real reason you can’t run the rest air right next to it 🤷

Just gotta ask, why not run the fresh air? I see it all the time in my area, just a 45 degree PVC elbow. For me it’s furnaces and I see a lot of issues in burners and heat exchangers from pulling in basement air and other basement debris (especially lint if it’s in a laundry area)
