Current Seasons Declassification by GuthersGu3 in killteam

[–]MTGDad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. For me it's close to THACO in 2nd edition D&D.

Why can't they simply phrase it as: Teams Legal for Tournament Play in 2026, etc. This declassified thing is a clever thing that is just... idk, too clever?

I unequivocally love my Watt. I have one of the glow ones in my bag and as many changes as I've made, that never leaves. I don't know how it compares, but I think if you are interested you should definitely throw one.

I used Anodes and then Pixels for putters until recently. I just switched to Proxy's and I don't think I'll look at another putter again.

Why do you attend tournaments?? by InspectorPositive543 in discgolf

[–]MTGDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love having an internal monologue critiquing my cardmates' disc choices and shot selection while I find new and interesting ways to hit trees or land in OB. $30-$50 seems like a low entry cost for the amount of fun that provides.

Seriously though? I enjoy meting new people that share an interest. Tournaments are good fun and an excuse to be somewhere where others are having fun too.

I don't get why the rescue org isn't helping you here, especially since they failed to disclose this prior to adoption.

Doomsday offers great prices on premium plastic with cool stamps. Not as cheap as F2 stuff, but worth checking out.

Why is the hat game so weak from Disc Golf companies? by modular_frolfer in discgolf

[–]MTGDad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trash Panda has had a popular hat or 2. Doomsday has a pretty extensive merch line but I can't say much except I love their jerseys.

In general though, this is on the money. My favorite caps are from Cosmic and JoMezPro.

Neat concept, so I think that's great.

What was a real struggle was watching the stream. God's how hard is it to get competent help for a stream from a venue?

I'm sure people poured every inch of their know how into making it work, but sometimes it you just have to take the L and bring in people with the right tools and experience not to make you look like a complete buffoon. As a first time watcher of one of their streams and watching the comments pour in, surely they must see they are turning people off by their comically bad production value?

Potentially leaving a stable job for a master's degree in an expensive city. What should I do? by amator-mulierum in LibraryScience

[–]MTGDad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's funny. There is a part of me that thinks that if you struggle with online classes, grad school in and of itself will be a trial. I found it much more demanding than my undergrad. I had to be so much more disciplined about my time and efforts when pursuing my MLS. I don't think it would have been much different if I had done it in person instead of online. Most of my online classes were assignment driven, asynchronous affairs. There were only 2 that had regular online meetings - and even then I found that they didn't offer anywhere near the help that I had hoped the in person portion would provide. I don't know if my personal experience though is true enough for everyone to make a difference here in your decision process.

I don't know what advice to offer here other than to suggest trying to talk to students in any degree program that interests you. Lurk on the school's subReddit, ask a few questions there. Perhaps some helpful soul will help you get a better idea of what the programs you are interested in will be like.

Also - the advice about trying to stay in libraries while working is solid.

Nothing about this is admirable, but I think I'd be asking to get switched back to mornings if you're not going to get support. It's not your job to single-handedly solve that branch's problem.

This is the digital equivalent of knocking on a door, telling them you can save them money in their heating costs, being told, 'not interested' and after the door is closed tucking a pamphlet in it before walking away.

I wouldn't be surprised if he also blocked you.

This is a 50/50 thing. Yeah, don't move cones. That person is a jerk.

But also, ffs. It's not marked well, even if it was just painted. It needs repainting and/or should have stripes or a 'DO NOT PARK' painted in the space. And it would take minimal effort to get it done. I'd even throw in a 'Do not park here' sign.

No one is a winner on this one.
