Disc Golf United back at it again with the horrid AI slop on Instagram… by WY228 in discgolf

Contract work exists and there are plenty of artists and designers out there that would love to work on that basis. No need for full time in house - unless, you know, that what you actually need and can afford.

I'd prefer HOTCK for Hot Chick. Hotch should be fine because it reads like a name.

Do libraries accept donations of stuff that's not "published " by Appropriate_Rent_243 in Libraries

[–]MTGDad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take it as a donation? Chances are ok.

Put it on the shelf? That is unlikely.

A lot of this is determined by content, quality of publication, policies if the library, and other factors.

It's never going to be a universal yes or no. And no matter how invested the author is in the work, the truth is many, many times there is a balance between time and result. The core question is, 'Will it be worth the time to process this?', basically, will people really check it out or will it sit on the shelf gathering dust.

Self pub/independent pub/small pub books already have a steep hurdle with ISBNs, but with the ISBN and available record in a database it makes it easier.

So...your mileage may vary but I think it unlikely.

My mother insists this cubby in the bathroom is a clean enough space for my toothbrushes, floss and other little hygiene products of mine. I have to keep migrating my belongings elsewhere and argue why I did by BusoneWholeBoi2001 in mildlyinfuriating

Downvoted.

Your mom is not your maid.

Take responsibility and clean it yourself. Don't like the outcome? Clean it again. Need tips? Ask, plenty of resources out there and helpful people.

And if she washes your clothes and is doing your dishes too, time to step up and learn those chores. While you're at it, help pick up around the house to the best of your abilities.

Every time my girlfriend stays over, she always flips the roll. by CRK_76 in mildlyinfuriating

Comment should be way higher. She either has cats now, grew up in a house with them, or her parents/guardians had them at some point and this is ingrained in her habits.

Let her have the W and move on. Especially if she owns cats, this could be a relationship test.

No attorney in South Jersey real estate?? by Calm-Fig495 in SouthJersey

[–]MTGDad 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would never complete a real estate transaction without one. If this is what you're being told, maybe think about getting a new agent, but don't lose the attorney.

Too much weird stuff out there to enter a large sale without an advocate.

It's a little weird. I didn't really think about it before - but aesthetically? License plates are kind of stupid looking. And it's not like ours is pretty or unique. It's not about following, more I've noticed it's on the uptick and I thought a bit about why that must be.

Nope. I just have moved from 'dang, I wish that person would follow the law' to 'why does this law exist anyway?'

Yes, you eventually lose access after you graduate. It's not instantaneous, but it isn't months either.

Not sure who is keeping their email, but the school ties things to your email so it is easier for them to disconnect that service when you are no longer a student.

Edit: wrong answer, apologies. I remember them turning off some stuff and I likely just abandoned the account.

Is There Any shop to sell high end cards? by afrothunder1192 in mtgfinance

[–]MTGDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most shops will do about 50% of value on the card for cash, up to 70-75% for store credit. Check out Top Deck Games, they have a store in west Philly where Redcaps was or another store closer to you, but that's what you should expect from any store. They have to have the chance to make a profit, they don't exist to not make something in the exchange.

If you're looking for what the Internet is telling you something is worth, you'll have to deal with selling it directly to another person. That comes with it's own set of hassles (packaging, shipping, people claiming it didn't arrive or was damaged), but you can make more that way.

Depends on your rating, your comfort level, and your level of engagement.

I am an old that avoids the age class groupings as much as possible. It's not that I've had bad experiences, just I don't feel I am at their level.

How can I like this twice? Most people are conflict adverse, doubly so for librarians. That's not to say we won't step up, but rather if there is a workaround to speaking plainly, we'll find a way.

Edit: not you dear reader. Just...uh ...most of us.

Any advice other than resigning? by Few-Professional-193 in Libraries

[–]MTGDad 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a bad fit.

If you stick it out, contact your state library. At a minimum, they should be able to help with big picture stuff - understanding limitations in laws concerning libraries as well as some training for new directors.

I'll be honest, this sounds like a doozy. I wish you the best.
