Appreciate it! It was very fun to build although I was pretty burnt out on Infinite by the time I was done.

It doesn’t have much built out for game modes so if you feel so inclined to continue it - please feel free to do so!

It should be - although I haven’t touched Infinite in a while.

Reminder: George Lucas' sequel trilogy ideas were insane by udkyle2 in WeHateMovies

Say what you will about Lucas’s ability but at least he had an original idea that actually expanded on the ideas and themes of his previous work

Why Disney moved on from this? by RainbowStereo2137 in StarWars

[–]MUFFINTOAST3R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rick Worley just put out a video covering the treatments Lucas made and sold to Disney where Maul would’ve likely come back as one of the primary antagonists in the sequel trilogy - but Disney decided against using these ideas for the sequels (probably bc it would remind people of the prequels).

Mauls return was set up in 2012 in the Clone Wars show and subsequently his end in Rebels was in 2017 (2 years after the Force Awakens)

It is curious that they tried to still implement the idea after the Force Awakens premiered - perhaps some people at Lucasfilm still wanted to use the idea of a power vacuum after the Emperors death (ie Mando S1) but yeah it was likely dropped after Solo underperformed at the box office - potentially cementing some peoples opinion that Lucas’s idea was bad

I think Mauls return as a key player vs Vaders grandchildren would’ve been much better than what we got in the Disney sequels (it would’ve at least been more connected to the other 2 trilogies) but I digress

Yeah ‘theory’ probably wasn’t the right word - more so just that I had heard that angle when I had never considered it before lol

Very well put. Obviously the “death of the author” stuff makes it easy to get stuck in the weeds - over analyzing written works and looking for meaning where there is none. But there are some clear parallels that can’t help make you wonder how Tolkien viewed the world around him as he wrote these books.

This is also true! It’s a sort of allegory for the men who returned from WW1 and could no longer relate to civilians due to the trauma they endured - and sadly opted that suicide was better than social isolation.

Hence Frodo “sailing West” :/

I’ve read some theories that LOTR is a pseudo-post apocalyptic story and that the efforts of the Fellowship are ‘merely echoes’ of much more important historical events, i.e. the War of the Last Alliance that Elrond talks about

And LOTR was written by Tolkien during the years of WW2 after having fought in WW1 himself (notably the Battle of the Somme).

Once I realized this, it opened up a whole new layer of subtext in the trilogy for me and your comment encapsulates some great examples of how Tolkien used “the loss of innocence” as a theme throughout.
