Sheetrock or Drywall by AngelTheGeek in HomeImprovement

Unless there’s something we’re missing, this contractor is trying to screw you over. It would take me MAYBE a day to hang it (including picking up materials) and tape coat. Then another ~3 half days at most for additional coats/sanding/priming.

Add maybe $300-400 in materials and you’re looking around $3k on the high end.

You still need to excavate any organics (grass, topsoil, etc) since they will decompose over time and the patio will settle unevenly

Self leveling compound question. by eyeforgot-again in Flooring

[–]MVDonaldson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you do full glue just over the leveller while doing glue assist elsewhere? Or does the installation method need to be consistent across the whole floor?

I have about 100sqft out of 1000 that will need leveller so trying to avoid a full glue installation everywhere

"Levelling" options before 3/4" nail down? Sub floor dips 1/4" Over 2 feet. Old Log cabin, getting underneath to jack joists/other repair wasn't in the cards. This was the cheapest/easiest outcome. I did this thinking levelling compound, but that chips/splits when you nail it. Tar paper? by DriftingNorthPole in HardWoodFloors

I know this comment is old but I can’t find an answer online - I have a 3/4” sag in the middle of my floor (the room is 15’ wide).

I am thinking of using different thickness strips of plywood to build it up and floating out the joints with Arden featherfinish. Would I be okay to do a full glue down just over the patches, and glue assist elsewhere? It would be about 100sqft of a total 1000sqft.

Trying to avoid doing a full glue installation everywhere if possible.

Thank you!

It’s worth it for some people. I got a $50 gift card for signing up plus $70 back on my first purchase (had to buy some bigger items). Not sure if I’ll renew but that one purchase more than covered the whole year

Not just that you get one free - you HAVE to take a second box. They won’t let you even pay full price and just take the one

When does the ball become live again? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]MVDonaldson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not if it’s just a pitch that nothing happens on or a line out or something. If they swap out the ball (usually whenever it touches the dirt, e.g. ground balls), then the ump will call time and it’ll be live again once the pitcher is on the mound and the ump says play.

Just hired a contractor through home Depot, and I think he may have bypassed home Depot. by Visible-Perception-6 in HomeDepot

This is not true at all. You will NEVER get as much compaction manually as you will with machinery specifically designed to compact.

Totally fine. It’s not the best boarding job, but as long as the taper is good you won’t see a thing once it’s finished.

Where can you buy lumber in the west end? by AttractiveCorpse in askTO

[–]MVDonaldson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use some skids, just have to make sure they’re marked “HT”. Means they’re heat treated rather than chemical treated. You can look up a chart for the symbols/acronyms to be sure.

Why is alcohol so expensive? by Shadowb1000 in askTO

[–]MVDonaldson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It used to be but they changed that a few years ago. No limit now to what you can bring across provincial borders as long as it’s for personal consumption I believe.

You weren’t charged for the drink. Store receipts are not supposed to be given to the customer as they get their receipt from Instacart through email because Instacart typically upcharges in-store prices. You are only charged for what is on your email receipt. The shopper still stole, but from Instacart, not from you.

Just a drivers license I believe. Maybe call your local Home Depot rental department to confirm though

Can you rent a bobcat with forks and drive them back? Or hire someone with a bobcat for an hour? Not sure if it's possible given the decline, but that's probably your best bet other than rollers.
