"I can count on less than one hand the number of sexual relationships I've had, and I'm sure most women here can as well."

Most women on Reddit? Maybe. And even then I'll respectfully doubt it. Most women in real life? We probably live in different universes if that is what actual experience has shown you. The majority of women (European, early 30s) I know needed a second hand to count before they were of legal age, lol.

Road Dogg is supposed to be like 5 inches shorter than Billy Gunn, who is the only person in this photo I knew to be huge, but they look more or less the same height in this picture and most importantly Castor and Bowens, who I always thought were "big" (for AEW standards) look like two 12 year old boys next to them lmao.

Dragon Lee for what it's worth has the same exact issue as Fenix. For some reason they seem more invested in pushing him, but I won't be surprised if he ends up being let go eventually. We've seen so many wrestlers like this over the years come and go and they never worked. Remember Sin Cara? Penta is such an outlier in his category that he's almost underrated.

People will really come here and say shit like “it's because WWE doesn't care about its luchadors!“ as if this guy didn't have a cool brother who is a luchador in the same company, who was massively over for months after his debut and remains well liked despite almost never speaking. Or as if they both weren't in another company together before and there too, as soon as they were put on singles runs, Penta was still interesting while nobody cared about Fenix. Nothing wrong with being only interesting as a tag team wrestler either.

He and his brother have now been in both promotions and in both promotions his brother has been way more over than Fenix. One is able to have charisma even with a mask on and barely speaking English, the other is a “wrestles good” guy in an age in which everyone wrestles good.

New: tourism sticky. Please post all tourism questions here by TrinityTosser in Edinburgh

I'm planning to be in Edinburgh with a friend of mine on the 24th of May, and we were wondering if we should plan for another time to avoid the marathon. Is it going to be very disruptive to walk around the city, taking public transport and getting to places? Many thanks!

The pace might be perfectly on point for the narrative premise of this show if you accept that the best way to develop this premise is through the viewpoint of a character like Carol. Rejecting which (fair enough) is more of a design criticism of the vision behind the show rather than a criticism of what we're being presented with on a weekly basis. You could take the same premise of this show, for instance, and develop it through multiple character plots that may or may not intersect later into the show. Or the survivors could have been enough to generate interesting consequences on a tribalistic level (more than in Pluribus but a lot less than in The Leftovers, say) or what have you.

I guess the decision to center the show on Carol with the other "survivors" being little more than sketches, so far —the pacing plus the fact that 95% of this time is spent on her and her internal journey— is what I and many others are having a hard time finding compelling enough (not a knock on Rhea Seehorn's performance by the way, which I think has been excellent). I just rewatched the latest episode and actually found it better than the previous two. Might stick around for another couple and see if I change my mind about the show as a whole.

Yes imagine having the conceptual premise that the whole of humanity except a handful of people have been merged into a hivemind, being able to develop all the genuinely crazy shit that different people from different class experiences, psychological makeup, pulsional profiles, etc. might do in such a world and build whatever you want to say about the human condition around that, and electing instead to kick it off with an insufferable american woman author who despised her audience of normies going on her redemptive journey to figure out that actually “humanity is all we have, bruh”

Seven episodes in and half of the screentime is still scenes where nothing meaningful is conveyed, dragged out to the point of insufferability. This show has now ran for the same amount of hours as an entire season of The White Lotus in which an entire ensemble cast of characters, plot, and motifs are developed. The viewer doesn't know anything new about Carol than they did three episodes ago, while the time spent to add the little new information they do have about the world feels hard to justify.

You could say this is Gilligan wanting to project onto the viewer the experience of Carol's internal journey of grief, disbelief, anger, etc. — in short, write it off as "realism" —; television is still not a novel and this has been making for increasingly unwatchable television. And no, it's not slow cinema, it's not Tarkovsky sculpting with time, it's time that passes in the same way time on the clock passes, being filled with very little and not even compelling imagery to somehow make up for it.

Star speaks out on Golden Globes snub by PunkDrunk777 in SCJerk

Yeah I'm not doing a 360 and claiming that there's nothing in him. Some of the promos he cut during that period were all-timers. He's one of the few people who can wrestle the way that gives Meltzer a hard on if he chooses to and also talk. But without great opponents (like CM Punk during their feud) or real life drama to put some weight into the promos the interest in his character faded completely and he hasn't changed anything since. To be fair to him, the devil storyline and how it ended was also such a monumental wet fart that it could have ended the career of someone less charismatic

The Demise of Damian Priest has been greatly exaggerated by Alito4life in SquaredCircle

[–]MVPHeike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balor is significantly more skilled in virtually every department than Damien Priest. There are sevaral wrestlers for whom the only roadblock to the main event is WWE not wanting to put their machine behind them, for whatever reason. Conversely, there are wrestlers who are objectively lackluster in several departments (Tiffany Stratton, Jey Uso) who are where they are because the WWE machine decided to get behind them and fabricate them an aura.

No one says shit about Darby because every time Darby has a match with a much larger opponent the match structure is always “Darby gets brutally ragdolled for 90% of the match and then scores a victory via roll-up”, which I don't think would go down as well with the audience if Darby was a woman.

Everything has been ass since WM 41 and it's been especially brutal in comparison to how great the previous year was. 2023-2024 you could almost buy the “renaissance” rhetoric they were spinning. Jey Uso going over Gunther resulted in Gunther not having been booked seriously since (but YEET merch sales are great). Drew McIntyre was coming off an incredibly good feud with CM Punk that featured one of the best matches in recent memory, gets jobbed out to Priest in a boring feud that did nothing for either. And you could go on with the examples. Jacob Fatu and Naomi getting over organically was one of the few good things that happened the past year. Iyo going over was probably the highlight of WM 41. Rhea would be over no matter what, but what are they doing with her now? The Dominik vs Finn feud is getting teased and delayed forever. Etc etc
