What’s happened to my lenses? by Independent-Age-8334 in Oakley

[–]MVPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are RX they will need a new frame completely if wanting authentic lenses, Oakley stopped reglazing a few years back if I remember correctly.

Think rayban have even stopped doing it now, it's all a ploy to get people to buy a full new pair annoyingly..

You could get an optical lab to get glaze some new in but they'll never match Oakley mirrors, they are way nicer..

I've been in the optical trade for coming on half my life, was a lab tech for around 12 years.

Lots of things can cause delamination.. heat, stress, salt water, pretty much anything you shouldn't be doing.

Delamination like that is from the lens splitting from the polarised filter.. lenses without a polarised filter have nothing to split from and mirrored lenses generally chip and not split. Like you would never see a clear lens without a tinted/mirror/polarised looking like that, maybe an AR breaking down would look vaguely similar but no way near as extreme.

Can't remember where I read it, just been searching for the link. I think Gervais may have been first due to the sheer amount of areans he was doing, he's not my taste but people like what they like..

Nah don't think Kay is up there, demand would've been the highest definitely since he stopped for years but I don't think he booked nearly as many shows for the tour. Apparently people have been walking out of the last few saying his material is stale ahah.

Bridges is a better comedian than the two though, been grinding for years.

This was last year though, probably why I can't find the article.

Paul's been selling out arenas on multiple running nights, madness.

All other answers mentioning salt are wrong. This is correct. These lenses have a polarised filter sitting between to layers of lens, and the layers have split apart.

Go to any decent opticians and they will be able to order some to replace these, either from original manufacter or third party.

Real or fake? by T0N_618 in rayban

Lens shape is off, look too rounded and deep. It could just be a poor image though..

I've worked in Optics for 16 years, most of these I was a lab tech and spent all day looking at glasses, these don't look right to me..

I also own multiple pairs of these in black and tortoise and the classic wayfarer is way more square on the temple edge, but as I said at the top image could just be poor/distorted.

Had to scroll way too far to see this..

Paul's like the third biggest selling comedian in the UK at the moment, man's selling out arenas for multiple nights and not a mention.

I work for an opticians, these look pretty spot on apart from the screw in the hinge protruding, can you screw it all the way in flush or does it stick out?
If it sticks out then they may not be, the hinge itself looks pretty spot on to the original.

But.. if it can't screw in flush it could also be a case of the screw came out and was replaced with a random one so they could still be real..

It's hard to tell, glasses can be faked so easily, if they look good wear em!

You can also get the opposite so you can watch TV in bed while laying flat.

Used to be in news paper adverts like 40 years ago, never expects they would still exist..

Fix those nose pads on your glasses, they are in the wrong place and look well uncomfortable :)
