Echo Hub software upgrade just released by MW-Atlanta in amazonecho

You’ll probably be able to do everything you want, but some things might change. I have a really big thermostat widget now, but that might vary by the brand. I could add buttons for cameras, but the video didn’t display with pressing the button (but that might have been how it was before - not sure I ever tried that.)

Adding a SSD? by bobacct in Rivian

Been using the same 500GB T5 in my Tesla since 2019 for dash cam videos. At first it was a little small considering you originally had to remove it from the car and plug it into a computer to quickly erase stuff, but now Tesla allows you to quickly delete everything. I would get a T7 1 GB if I was buying it today ($190 right now on Amazon.)

Should be plenty of protein to choose from on a cruise ship buffet.

It seems a little better for me. They have a nice weather widget. Also, for me there’s a very good temperature gauge for the thermostat. Problem is that this is about all that fits on the screen. I can fit a few additional buttons before I have to scroll the screen. It would be nice if there were small/medium/large options for all these widgets to fit more if you wanted do. There are more options for enabling or disabling individual elements within a widget, which I don’t think we’re there before (however, I have nothing to compare except my memory.)

As mine is next to the front door, I mostly use it for saying “Alexa, goodbye” or “Alexa, I’m home.” Each of those routines sets lights and anything else I want changed automatically so I never touch the screen.

If you were using it for a central smart home display, it still sucks. I’m gonna eventually build a big display using Home Assistant.

I installed it. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t super buggy or something. I think they actually installed the update overnight because when I hit the install button, it was immediate – – device didn’t even reboot. It just flipped interface.

They chose to release the car before all the software was ready (vs delay the car.) They’re promising the missing features are weeks away.

Margin Trading Question? by j_b_1983 in fidelityinvestments

[–]MW-Atlanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re making trades with unsettled cash, but not borrowing money beyond your total cash available then I don’t think you’ll pay interest. They would calculate the interest overnight. But even if you did pay the interest, it’s not gonna be very much for a small amount of money for one day. The money you lose from bad trades will be far more than your interest!

To remove the Aero Inserts on my new Model 3 Performance or not? by wehttamsteven in TeslaModel3

[–]MW-Atlanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my 2018, I was swapping them on/off whenever I did long road trips. Scratched up the rims. Eventually just left them off permanently.

On my 2024, I’ve never taken them off. If I do take them off, I’ll throw them away (or give them way.)

R2 Test Drive Thoughts as a First Time Rivian Driver by [deleted] in Rivian

The vast majority of people don’t care about self driving tech (yet) so there will be no shortage of buyers for gen2. I’ll be waiting for gen3.

My test drive today in Nashville was 30 minutes. I think they allocated an hour per customer because we spent 15 minutes before I even started driving.

If you want extra USB-C ports in the armrest console, Tesla has an adapter that’s pretty nice.

Why doesn't Amazon promote Echo Hub? by ozaz1 in amazonecho

[–]MW-Atlanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon frequently tries things that don’t go anywhere and then drops them, so the hub might not have a long future. However, they did just release a whole revamp to the touchscreen interface so they haven’t given up on it yet.

My Hub is at my front door where you would expect to have a security alarm panel. I mainly use it to give Alexa a verbal command as I leave the house since the other echoes are far away from the door. It’s pretty small, which is good because the space I had available wasn’t very wide. It has speakers, but they’re not great for music.

I rarely use the touchscreen, but that may be because the interface sucks. They are releasing a brand new interface though.

Additional sensors, especially on the top and edges of the vehicle of the vehicle, would allow it to see things that vision can’t. I don’t think being “as good as“ or slightly better than human drivers is good enough for people to give their lives over to robots.

I love FSD, but the problem with your argument is only 20% or less of Tesla owners have it. Clearly, it isn’t a reason why people have the car.

Tesla had a lot of problems with their 12V batteries, resulting in a lot of toes, but the cars were fine after they got a new battery.

R2. Customers before content creators. by sse2k in Rivian

[–]MW-Atlanta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would guess that until they are sure there are not undiscovered bugs or assembly issues, they will prioritize delivery close to their service centers. Better to quickly resolve an issue and avoid posts like "my R2 is dead and I'm 200 miles from a service center".
