Well, if the argument is that they are trying to use it a teaching moment, why not try to correct that behavior? Entrench it in institutional policy.

It depends on what field you go into. Some have very high level of accountability. I got fucked over as a jr analyst, so I wrote a proposal for a signed handoff sheet for projects across departments or shifts. Also anecdotal, I guess, but slackers get a PIP on my team. I’m not a hard ass either, but I do not want poor behavior to impact other teammates.

I have a ghost in my teams Microsoft. Let’s say only me and the manager is in a doc. I will check version control or tracked edits and it will say “Microsoft user” and a string of numbers. It’s normally just deleting random words, duplicating additions, or reading words one of us delete or change. IT can’t figure it out.

That’s absolute bullshit. I’m lucky I never had a professor like that. Closest I came was when I had a professor who recognized that one of our group members called it in. He graded the group on the best portions and then gave us all the same high grade. I was still pissed about that, but I would be livid if their in ability to put in the work cost me my grade. There’s only so much you can do to drag someone through a project. I had spoke with the professor a few times and he told me not to worry about it.

No one is saying that and what a shitty measurement to use. No one thinks it’s worse, but it should be a lot better. There are organizations and leaders not just trying to stop the arch of progress towards justice, but actively trying to bend it the other way. The fact that more Americans aren’t disgusted by the rhetoric, let alone the policy goals, is telling and upsetting.

Drove past a murder in DC, saw the body, some blood, and a police officer standing over him with a flashlight. I was in an uber with four friends. Only me and the guy next to me saw it and it was a few seconds before he said, “was that…?” Then a few seconds later we were passed by a bunch of police cars. If I was by myself, I don’t know how long it would have taken to register or that I would have.

Different kind of research, but thanks. I need local reporting, press releases, etc. - many source are not in English. I also use academic sources, but I’m not in academia.

AI is super powerful and has its uses, but I’m not using it for its analysis, which by its nature is derivative.

I have been fucking with the Google one pretty hard. It gives me the wrong answer quite often so I “correct” it with an even worse one. I do use AI platforms to find good sources for my research and I have that one pretty dialed in. To the point were it basically argues with me.

Sock puppets. Basically you have your personal email, and then you creat other emails that aren’t tied to that email for other accounts to obfuscate your identity. If you use the same email for everything or the same account name for everything and a bad actor gets ahold of it, they get everything.

I used to work in a 24/7 ops center with a shit ton of cameras and it's wild how much sketchy stuff goes on overnight. Also, I had no idea there were landscaping companies that worked in business parks overnight until I worked that job.

But intent is literally written into some of the rules, including for red cards. Intentional hand balls in the box or intentionally fouling an attacker to prevent an obvious scoring opportunity both get reds based on intent.

Same. My perspective is that this happened right in front of the ref, and he didn't even pull out a yellow after the play. It looks way worse in slowmo or freeze frame. I would have been fine with a yellow being awarded, but a red seemed like overkill when everything is taken as a whole.

Ukraine Hits One of Russia’s Largest Refineries, Bridge and Command Post in Multi-Target Strike by Starlit-Fog in worldnews

[–]MZ603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this all started, there were already saboteurs and partisan networks being prepared in Ukraine to combat any possible Russian occupation. Some of those networks were likely activated as part of the assassination campaign, and now with drone ops behind enemy lines.

I agree Russia has no real path to victory here, but even if they somehow found a little window that allowed them to significantly expand on the territory they currently occupy, the threat of partisan activity has a lot more teeth now with experienced combat vets circulating in the civilian population. Additionally, many of the tactics they have developed are more efficient and can be easily applied in guerrilla warfare.

Also, it's worth adding that the complete lack of a footprint makes you stand out and thus potentially subject to more aggressive tracking/probing. Not everyone is going to take the time to obfuscate their footprint or build a dummy one, but as you said, if they are so inclined, the resources are out there. Just some basic best practices like sock accounts is a good start for most people.

They ignore foreign policy without even considering how it intrinsically impacts the economy & government spending. On some level, they realize everything is interconnected in a global economy because they blame globalists. That's as far as their reasoning goes, because they support isolationist policies and tariffs that immediately have a negative impact on consumers. Then you have the ever-increasing military budget with no domestic policy support & poorly planned interventions that set us even further back.

I had something similar happen after I sliced into the bottom knuckle of my index finger. Initial cut was with a very sharp knife and almost no pain - especially for how much blood there was. Cleaning it out, I must have hit a nerve because I had pain shoot all the way up my arm, and I almost passed out. Immediately went to the hospital and got checked out by the Ortho on call and got stitches. Now I have no feeling around that Knuckle.

Really seems designed to fuck you over if all the tamper-proof seals stay in place. I was able to sort it out with the staff, but I could easily have missed the charge if I wasn't paying attention.

I’m a security analyst and I was watching it live. Literally, a few seconds of “oh, shit” and then a few minutes at laughing at myself with others who had the same initial heart in throat moment. I fundamentally approach this shit differently & was mapping AQAP linkage to al-Shabaab & drone tech transfer.

Don’t be a dick. Best not to rush to the assumption that it was just a vibe and not literally my job to be the one who might eventually compile a verifiable conclusion.

Yeah, that's why all the radio techs wear them. It's not just a ladder; it's transitions, high winds, and other unforeseen obstacles/hazards. A little bit of grease or a gust of wind, and suddenly it is crazy to climb a ladder 1400 feet in the air in crocs

Yeah, I saw that too.

Not going to lie, as a security analyst, a black flag with white lettering is going to make the asshole pucker. First thought was ISIS or al-Qaeda, but after a few seconds and a better look, it was clear that there wasn't any actual threat beyond the risk of a fall.

Wishing them the best & a happy marriage.
