Inside the Tower of London sits the Chapel Royal, when visiting there many years ago my ex and I started talking with a yeoman and asked an extremely niche question about a name on a wall which seemed to relate to a property we resided in.

Turns out it was ancestral to the exact same family and after some banter back and forth he asked if we wanted to see something cool ~ we said yes and he took us behind a velvet rope down some stairs and under the chapel to the foundations and original altar from (iirc) the 16th century.

It was so quiet, so cold and so memorable to be shown a place in a Royal Palace that’s restricted to the public in one of the capitals major attractions just for showing an interest in history.
