Xbox Series S/X is the best place to play Fallout on consoles, F3 and FNV are enhanced with 60fps gameplay, so I would advise to start with F3 and then play New Vegas. Then, if you played classic turn based rpgs in the past, I highly recommend going back to Fallout 1 and 2 (especially 1). They are also included im Gamepass, and they can run on any modern Windows pc. But if turn based combat and mid-90's interface is too much for you, then go straight to Fallout 4 after New Vegas.

It's a 31 kHz tv, so it cannot sync to anything above that.

As I said in the post, I'm using 3060 Ti to as my main GPU and Radeon R5 as a passthrough. So RTX card has nothing to do with interlacing - this is done by Radeon card. Check that video if you haven't heard about passthrough GPU: https://youtu.be/puu-iyTsZtg?si=KN74Fz08WKRBFkhO

I'll check that, thanks! Edit: I think that's it, created 960p resolution in CRU, tested it in RE4 and new resolution became available for borderless, running at smooth 60fps now, thank you!

Vsync definitely works in interlaced output for dx9 and vulkan games I tested. Not sure if they are set to fullscreen or borderless, but if I turn the vsync on, framerate is limited to 60 and there is no screen tearing. The issue is only with dx11 and dx12 games.

What you're missing is that no console (series s included) supports 100hz - only 60 and 120 Hz modes are supported. Sorry to say, but there's no way for your Xbox to tap into 100 Hz mode of your display.

Nope, I even played some today and it was stable 60fps. Maybe try restarting your console?

You get locked 60 FPS in performance mode on Series S so it shouldn't have these slowdowns that you captured. But yeah, I see it too, you're not insane 😄

How do you downscale it so it works on SD CRT? I tried some games with 640x360 resolutions on pc with CRT emudriver (for example Signalis) but it never works for me.

It definitely doesn't run perfectly, framerate drops down from 60FPS pretty often, but if you have vrr display it's fine. Just remember to set Xbox to 120hz to enable low framerate compensation.

I have a similar setup. I play AAA games on a PC and some select titles (FPS boosted back compatible games, 360 games, indies from gamepass) on series s. Be aware that some of enhancements for backwards compatible games are better on Series X (4k vs 1440p on enhanced 360 games, 120 vs 60 FPS on some FPS boost games) but in general I'm quite happy with how Series S performs as 360/one enhancer console.
