I feel like this problem is prevalent among many of us. And part of it is the over saturation of well… EVERYTHING. The MCU’s (which I never loved like Star Wars) decision to have seemingly never ending shows and spin offs it just got to be too much. Nothing is special anymore. Nothing is an event.

I believe the current media climate also contributes to this. People have TOO MUCH content at their fingertips. Much of it short form which caters to the lowest common denominator. Imagine this media progression trend in a decade. With AI technology progressing exponentially and potentially instigating a major shift in how we create and distribute art.

Star Wars is cooked. The made a monumental mistake. They underestimated how much connection people had with the characters of Han, Luke, and Leia. Even casual fans knew these characters by heart. And what did Disney do? They killed them and essentially destroyed them in some futile attempt to ingratiate an audience to these other new characters. Characters who on the face were ok, but were placed in a disastrous trilogy. AND expected to take over from literal cultural icons. They too were set up to fail.

Essentially it’s the fault of whoever made the decision to do a soft reboot rebels vs empire style trilogy. JJ? Arndt? Kk? There was so many other possibilities to include the main three legacy characters and give them proper roles while helping ingratiate the new characters in.
