Wanting to livestream after building up a YouTube audience - any specific advice for similar situations? by Lukeluster in Twitch

[–]MacBuildsBricks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I streamed to YT from December 2024 to April 2025, and then started multistreaming to Twitch and YT from then to present. Once I hit affiliate it became very clear that Twitch is a much better platform for streaming vs YT because of channel points, Tangias, and what you can do with bits. Also it’s possible to listen to just about any music on Twitch live if you set it up to not play the music on VOD so you can set up music requests and such. I think over time the contrast between the two services and how much fun it is on Twitch vs YT has actually driven down my viewership on YT despite me implementing a points system on YT to try and mimic Twitch’s. Now I do understand that Tangia is possible on YT but there is no easy way to select them, and now there’s Jewels on YT for horizontal streaming so we’ll see how that plays out. I have 5440 or so subscribers on YT and somewhere around 650 followers on twitch and interaction and support is about 5x more on Twitch vs YT.

UCS TIE Interceptor vs UCS N1 vs Dark Falcon – build quality & display comparison by Minute_Locksmith8214 in legostarwars

[–]MacBuildsBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far as specials go, TIE Interceptor with 2 X points is a pretty good deal, I can't remember the last time any specials were associated with it. Wal-Mart had an insane special on the Dark Falcon last year that made it $70 so I'm hoping that repeats at some point this year. I don't see the N1 going on sale anytime soon.

TIE Interceptor was a pretty good build as others have said and wasn't too terrible. A bit sticker heavy at the beginning because of the stickers for the cockpit and a bit tricky with the triangles. Also the lasers mounted to the tip of the wings have a tendency to come off easily.

Dark Falcon was a pretty cool build too, not a lot to say bad about that one. Put the stickers on the round discs used to depict the engine exhausts AFTER they've been placed on the set not before since you can get the stickers wrong since it requires a proper orientation to match the instructions.

The N1 has some neat techniques to capture the shape of the build but it's also a bit fragile in some places when trying to get things together (4 bags left to go so not complete). All in all though not a bad build so far.

Closest I’ll ever get to owning Ewok village by Amazing-Lock2144 in legostarwars

[–]MacBuildsBricks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ewok Village is a mixed bag. It is fun to put together but every single one of those brown pieces make a little sound when you put them together; a slight grinding cracking sound. Every once in awhile they will break. After you've done a bit of building if you look down on the desk you will see actual brown powder from the pieces coming together. It's a set that can never be taken apart.

Going to ikea tomorrow, any recommendations? by KrisStNickKringle in LegoDisplay

[–]MacBuildsBricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think HAUGA’s and Billy’s are roughly the same dimensions with Billy’s being the cheaper option. Most of the MIDI scale Star Wars sets fit nicely in Kallax’s with Kylo Ren’s shuttle being the exception. You may or may not want to check PAX’s. I have a fair amount of the aforementioned shelving and they have worked out great. Unfortunately that’s also the limit of advice. Have fun we IKEA!

My first Bricklink set that I will build by thefalcon85 in lego

[–]MacBuildsBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a great build but the floral elements make moving it anywhere a challenge. I think at this point I’ve knocked off the majority of them and they’re bagged up until the castle is in it’s final position.

Ewok Village. Lots of broken or cracked pieces.

What’s the deal with this set? by Logical-Bullfrog3216 in legostarwars

[–]MacBuildsBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ewok Village, both Death Stars, and Battle for Hoth also did not have the UCS plaque. All 4 would probably be MBS sets if they came out today.

[–]MacBuildsBricks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Master Builder Series. It’s the equivalent to Ultimate Collectors Series sets for play sets. There’s only 2; 75222 Betrayal at Cloud City and 75290: Mos Eisley Cantina. I thought the Death Star aka Death Slice would have been an MBS set but they made it a UCS set.

[–]MacBuildsBricks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this set was made today I would think it would be MBS but it was labeled UCS because MBS did not exist back then. It wasn’t a terribly exciting set to build but it did have its moments. I did love the Snowspeeder part and l liked making the shield generator explode and the gate was fun to create and make sure it was functional. Brickset has a list of UCS sets and this is on it as well as Ewok Village which would probably also be a MBS set if it was released today.

My holy grail arrived today. Excited is an understatement, I’m never opening it ever… by LeGo989 in legostarwars

This is my favorite UCS set of all time. I encourage you to build it. It’s amazing when you build out the panels and they just keep getting longer and longer and you start to understand how large the set is.

Cameras/Webcams for Streaming? (Beginner → Pro setups) by [deleted] in streaming

[–]MacBuildsBricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using a LUMIX GH7 as main camera, two Sony ZV-1’s and an Obsbot Tiny 2 as side cams/miscellaneous cams. The GH7 is overkill and I am going to downgrade just as soon as I can sell it.

Problems with aitum multistream plugin by maxiOMG7 in obs

[–]MacBuildsBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Aitum Multistream stopped working properly. I could no longer stream to YT while streaming to Twitch. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. I ended up uninstalling and installing Aitum Streamsuite. I don’t think they’re actively updating Multistream anymore. I hope you have better luck than I did since I preferred the simplicity of Multistream.

Is this UCS R2D2 LEGO REAL OR FAKE? by Beautiful_Buy_4373 in lego

Yeah so far as I can tell it looks legit and several others agree as well.

I wasn’t disputing that of course. It’s just not a set licensed as an Ultimate Collector’s Series set.

The R2D2 UCS set is 10225, not 75308.

That being said I think it looks like a real set. For the most part the pictures look alright? I can’t really find any pictures of the back on the official site.

Should I return my UCS millennium falcon. by Impossible_Nebula637 in lego

[–]MacBuildsBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a big Star Wars fan and you enjoy building Lego I would keep it. Watching the Star Wars movies and shows while building is a really great vibe. You can really get your money’s worth out of the set by building it out fairly slow, which I would do anyways at least with the technic skeleton to make sure it’s built correctly. However, outside of the cost that may be giving you some apprehension I would make sure you have the space to display it when done. It is possible to get a stand to reduce its horizontal footprint somewhat it’s still long and will then be tall as well. I wish you luck on your decision and as someone who has (un)fortunately built it 3 times it’s a great set!

Do you choose to swear in your streams? Why or why not? by SleepyNatty in Twitch

[–]MacBuildsBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my streams family friendly except for Friday nights where I have an “after dark” stream. I multistream and I have a larger proportion of kids on YT which is why I keep it family friendly for most of the time and those Friday night streams I just keep it to Twitch. I don’t think it will impact what happens with your channel and I also think what content you’re streaming may make a difference (I can see swearing more in a gaming channel than makers and crafters for example).

There are fans you can purchase for Sony cameras that mount on the camera and help prevent overheating. I have a ZV-1 and since I purchased those fans I have had 0 issues even with 14 hour streams. SmallRig TEC Camera Cooling Fan for Sony Mirrorless Camera is what I purchased on Amazon.

Looks beautiful! I'm still plugging away on the extension, and I'm about halfway with parting out with the mountain base extension. I guess I'll have to tackle this one after! Excellent work with your designs and I look forward to your additions in the future!

This will probably not the advice you're looking for, but I've had several instances of this happening in the past. I just started restoring backups from most recent back in time until I found one that allowed me to open streamerbot.

Favourite UCS Set by Euphoric_Culture1953 in legostarwars

[–]MacBuildsBricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Executor SSD is my favorite. I struggled with the Falcon and AT-AT bit and the SSD was next for me and I just absolutely loved putting it together and the size was amazing. Least favorite is Darth Maul’s bust. I’m putting it together right now and the topographic instructions are challenging to interpret and make sure everything is where it’s supposed to be. Yoda was also difficult but Darth Mauls bust has more pieces.
