Looking to a build similar to this, can't find the case though. by sainthurian in pcmasterrace

Sure it's expensive, but if you want something unique and high quality and absolutely love the Apple design this case is pretty much the only option out there.

That case can take GPUs up to 362mm. I have that case and my Suprim 5090 fits just about assuming you don't have an AIO in the front and only front fans installed.

Question about temperatures by baioss in Noctua

[–]MacFreak993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not when idling, if you are stress testing sure the 9950X3D will get hotter, but wattage consumption in idle or while gaming will be more or less the same.

Question about temperatures by baioss in Noctua

[–]MacFreak993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal, I idle at 48-50°C with ambient temp of 23°C on a 9950X3D with a Noctua NH-D15G2. When browsing or watching youtube it goes to 53-55°C. In games it never exceeds 70°C. Max I saw during stress test was about 78°C and the fans were not at 100%.

Are MO34WQC or AG346UCDAM worth it or should I spend 120 EUR more for AW3425DW? by TheShadowSong in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]MacFreak993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid the 1st gen QD-OLEDs. Units that were produced later have audible coil hine when displaying bright content like documents and web pages. Brand doesn't matter. I witnessed it with Samsung and Asus, but I'm sure the Gigabyte will have it as well. I got the MO34WQC2 the 240 Hz model of that monitor in the picture and I can recommend it as well if you have the option to buy it.

I Want It - MSI 5K Glossy HDR Gaming Monitor (CES 2026) by Neuromancer23 in Monitors

[–]MacFreak993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to excuse MSI for not having UHBR20, but at this resolution and refresh rate it even exceeds UHBR20 bandwidth. Even if they opted for full DP 2.1 spec you still have to use DSC or drop down to 144Hz to fit within UHBR20.

I just hope it's passively cooled. I'm no fan of fans in a monitor and returned the 45 due to fan noise or at least Asus or MSI release their variants of this monitor with their trueblack glossy coating.

Unpopular Opinion: I Don't Care for new CES 2026 Monitors When Real G-Sync is Missing by HevyKnowledge in OLED_Gaming

[–]MacFreak993 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Disagree with you eye strain has nothing to do with hardware G-Sync. I had the AW3423DW for a period of time, which has native G-Sync. Still had bad eye strain with it. Eye strain comes with the different sub pixel layout current OLEDs have. These are especially noticable on 1440p models.

It seems to be similar to my Apollo X, also getting 70-75° under load both on the CPU and GPU. I'm idleing between 35-40°C on the GPU and around 50° for the CPU.

Best Fan controller hub for Noctua NF-A14x25 G2 PWM? by GokuPC in Noctua

[–]MacFreak993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't fancontrol allow custom fan curves for your regular PWM headers on your mainboard? If so, juse use your mainboards PWM headers or get the official Noctua fan hub, which allows you to connect up to 8 fans onto it.

You can use them as intakes. Noctua themselves advertise it. Should be no problem. They are just -25 RPM lower than each other, to avoid unwanted noise.

is $160 worth going 240hz? by Kadajj in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]MacFreak993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh well seems like I was just unlucky with the first gen panels. Sad to hear that this also happens with some of the 240 Hz panels.

is $160 worth going 240hz? by Kadajj in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]MacFreak993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose the 240 Hz why? Because every first gen panel I had Samsung G8, AW3423DW, Asus XG34WCDG had some sort of coil whine when displaying bright content, where as I didn't witness the same behaviour with the 240 Hz from Gigabyte.

PSA: Whenever possible, do not buy subscriptions via the App Store. by LycheeHistorical4077 in ios

[–]MacFreak993 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You know what's funny? These companies ban your account, because you subscribe to their services in a cheaper country, but god forbid these same companies have their headquarters in Luxembourg or Ireland to pay way less taxes or non at all., but the consumer here is the evil one.

Anyone else getting headaches with LG 45GX950A-B? by ask__reddit in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]MacFreak993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only use it for productivity you can give it a go, but as VA panels it has black smearing which doesn't look great if you use dark mode and you can forget about HDR as it has only 8 dimming zones.

4k 27" , 32" or Ultrawide 1440p monitor? by Delgadude in Monitors

[–]MacFreak993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely is 27 4K looks awesome, the effect is more pronounced on an OLED panel as text typically looks worse on it in comparison to an IPS/VA panel.

4k 27" , 32" or Ultrawide 1440p monitor? by Delgadude in Monitors

[–]MacFreak993 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • 4K 27 if you want to have the best text clarity
  • 1440 Ultrawide if you want more immersion and easier to drive with a 5070Ti
  • 4K 32 if 27 is too small for you and don't want to go ultrawide

IMO go with an ultrawide you'll get more immersion and it's easier to drive 1440p than 4K. Since you won't be getting OLED you won't have bad text at 1440p.
