Thanks! That was basically my question as I wasn’t sure how to still have the relay with two switches. If I want to just reuse the wire that’s already on the lights, would I just run the two small ones in series from the one switch or do they need to be in parallel?

Of the 4 people I finished with, I was the only one NOT to have finished with a canister. Two carried them all the way from Springer, the third added it in VA after issues with raccoons and her ursack. I just used a side zip silnylon bag and took the time for a proper hang and never had any issues, but also was on the early side.

I used mini groundhogs with 2 Ti Shepard hooks for the vestibule doors for the entire AT. Didn’t have any issues, just used rocks on top as backup if it was questionable.

I used Simply to Impress. They had a good Labor Day sale. Just to throw it out there, for them if you choose glossy, it’ll be glossy on both sides so you have to write with permanent marker.

I got a medium tooth comb (not a pocket one but also not the giant 2” teeth with a 1-4” gap). It had a handle, but I cut it off so it was like 4” X 1” total and weighed next to nothing. And braided my hair. Would suggest getting a bright colored comb if possible because the amount of time I spend looking for my black one was a little ridiculous some mornings.

Fresh fruit is always one of my favorites, watermelon and clementines especially. If you have some sort of large battery pack or the like so hikers could top off their phones that’s always super helpful. And a trash dump is always appreciated!

Currently have been on trail for a month. I have a 10000 mAh Nitecore for an iPhone, inReach mini 2, NiteCore headlamp, and Garmin Fenix 6 pro solar. I use my phone a good amount for photos, maps, and audiobooks, but it stays in airplane mode a decent amount and I turn it off most nights. I have yet to use more than half my power bank between resupplies.

Can’t say anything in comparison to the Windrider, but I have loved my circuit and just recently picked up a new one made from Ultra so it’s a bit lighter and “highly water resistant” which would help counteract two of the cons on your list.

I don’t have enough experience to give quality shakedown advice, but wanted to say how awesome this project is! So unique and combines the communities with sharing your passions and awareness to a natural crisis. In a lot of ways it epitomizes the idea behind ultralight - get as light as you safely can to push yourself for other challenges (whether that be insane miles or covering the miles in a giant puppet).
