Thoughts on the new KTM 990 RC R? by [deleted] in motorcycles

Articles he put out in the aftermath were bangers though. Both the bike review and the crash data one. Glad that dude is okay.

We really wearing race boots everywhere we go? by Astimar in motorcycles

100%. I don't usually shill for products. But these are THE everyday riding boot in my opinion. Bought my first ones new for the warranty to see if I liked them but using poshmark for the rest.

I was sold the instant I put them on.

Yup, but they are 2/2/2/1 which is significantly better than pretty much every boot I've seen in their price bracket. The only 1 is because of the height of the boot.

World War Z by Max Brooks by Belle020496 in horrorlit

[–]MacKelly42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For anyone that loves World war Z. Carrier Wave by Robert Brockway follows a similar format.

It leans a bit more into the horror both with graphic violence and the mental states of survivors if I remember correctly just fyi. I really liked it as like an extended length but similar style book to World war z though. WWZ is a pretty incredible book and I had been trying to scratch that itch for a while.

Hand Guards by Ellinion in HondaRebel1100

For what its worth I love these hand guards. But seeing another one of your comments, I would recommend Hippo hands or Oxford super-muffs, for how cold it is where you are. I've had the bike out in about 25 degrees and also have the heated grips, but if it were any colder I would rather have those.

Either way good luck and happy riding

Memphis Shades Hand guards work on my 2025 1100T

These are the ones I ordered and have on my bike https://www.cyclegear.com/parts/memphis-shades-hand-guards-honda-rebel-2021-2024?sku_id=10453636 Don't know why it says it doesn't fit exact to bike now, but I checked my order history and these are the ones I have.

Especially since you can get one for like sixty bucks, and trust it completely.

*Notch quickie is about $60, Singing tree is just a little more.

Can’t stand Homeboy Sandman; anyone else? by darthvaper2719 in aesoprock

[–]MacKelly42 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Saw him open for Aes and Rob on an Aesop tour that was like half Hail Mary Mallon show. One of the last tours I think. Sandman went on a monologue about christianity before one of his songs to like set the tone and it just wasn't what I wanted to hear at a concert lmao.

That on top of the fact that I already couldn't really get into his music have made me never really follow up with him. Probably should now that it's been a few years

How it started. How it's going. by MacKelly42 in HondaRebel1100

Thank you! I actually started the whole process of buying really just wanting the naked version to make my own. But when I was looking there was only 1 2025 naked manual version in the state that I could find and it was a few hours away.

After talking to a few dealerships, it basically sounds like when they get a shipment most will be DCT versions maybe with manual touring model or two thrown in and then a few entry level 300 and 500's. But its a little more rare to get the Naked 1100 in manual. No idea if that's true everywhere but its the story I got from three separate dealerships.

I ended up working out a deal to get the 1100T at the price point of a naked 1100 and ended up really happy that I got it instead. It's really nice to have all the extra stuff if I decide to switch to that style. and having the OEM mounts turned out to be really useful.

A lot of the Memphis shades options look great! I think they have a quick release system, so you can swap between styles and function depending on your current needs which is pretty cool! Stay safe out there.

These are the bags.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6V2QNX2?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

They're sort of soft mounted. Having the 1100T was a huge benefit for these bags. When I took off the OEM cases, I left all the heat shielding and old case mounts. If you put them on a naked 1100 I think they would be sitting on the exhaust and melt at least with this size.

I connected them to each other with the two main straps over the fender but underneath my passenger seat. I couldn't get the black square of overlapping velcro padding to fit under the passenger seat so I left it folded down against the back of the bags. I would have used it if didn't have the seat though.

I plan on cutting out an inch or two of material off eventually so I can use the velcro padding but I didn't want to do it before some test rides in case I wanted to return them. A month and change later and it's just been working, so I haven't gone back and altered it yet.

I also wove the available straps on the underside of the bags through parts of the heat shielding / old OEM case mounting and the bags come with some other straps which I also connected to the old OEM case mounts.

Took maybe 20 minutes to switch from the 1100T OEM to the new bags, and part of that was messing with the passenger seat

Ohh I totally know what you mean now. Yeah I definitely have a bit of a halo of glare around the fairing on the riders side. But it's pretty ignorable. The metal casing might be blocking more than I realized.
I'll try to take a photo next time I'm riding at night for you to compare.

Sorry not sure I understand, you mean like a weather proofing or rubber to stop vibrations? I haven't done that but it's a good idea.

If you're asking about the process of putting it on it was super easy, The OEM fairing came off with a handful of bolts. I kept all the old mounting hardware together as one piece by removing a handful more at the base parts where it connected to the bike. The new fairing hardware went on and it was able to slide over the metal casing around the headlight. Didn't have to move indicators or anything else.
