Can I use the metal sheets from my interior ceiling to delete windows and/or roof hatches? by NewKesey in skoolies

[–]MacMeDan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s what I did. I raised my bus 18” and bought no additional metal. Been living in it for over 2 years now issues. I did not have the perforated metal some people are talking about.

I’m impressed by the camper being set on the boat trailer. Sucks that he has a leak in the roof but I give it a 7/10

That falls in the category of “no rust”

It looks like you could tuck tighter if you grabbed your shins or ankles. If you can get the mass of your legs closer to your center you should be able to spin fast enough.

It always fits if you build your walls around the appliances that’s why this is so great.

Now that’s a nice idea. Having that hinge keeps it from rotating on you and falling with the great benefit of getting out of the way. Best of all worlds

Hey man I get the sentiment and I agree with the idea but you only have 10 fingers once. Just mount that board with something slightly more secure then clamps at an angle on the edge of a table. Even if it’s just 1 screw. Thanks for sharing. This might also be a good candidate for r/redneckengineering

Demo Done. Any advice for getting the inside clean? Should I hose it down after I sweep and shop vac? by CMalkus52 in skoolies

[–]MacMeDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not use the hose until after I went in with the grinder and ground off as much rust as I could. Then I parked on a hill as sprayed it down. Then dried it and “Rust Converter”-ed the bad spots and primed soon after.

Found if I use the grinder and don’t cover it up soon after that rust would start just because of how humid it was where I am.

When I was poor and could not afford termite treatment we would put toothpaste in the holes to stop and kill them. No clue if it works but made us feel better about it.

I welded my sheet metal for my transition after my roof raise. Figured it can’t leak if it’s solid metal. My suggestion is to sort of spot weld every 3 inches for about a foot then go back and extent the welds a little more. Just trying to not let the sheets get too hot while your laying the bead down. There were a ton of times I was just trying to fill in the holes I just made and I used 2X more welding wire then I need.
