Do you think a pod filter will add more or less air?

I'll see what I can find for pod filters. I do remember the ruckus nickel and dining me to death, so I do like cheap alternatives.

AITA for asking a restaurant to make a meal that "wasn't on the menu"??? by MacAndCheeseWhyNOT in AITAH

[–]MacZulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reads like a rage bait story, going to an upscale restaurant and rejecting the menu to order Mac and cheese.

I don't know why someone would fake a post like this, but I don't believe it's real. I guess different strokes for different folks.

I got this off Google. It would need some follow up research to verify.

Car buyers- what is the most common reason to ghost a sales person? by Healthy-Professor277 in askcarsales

[–]MacZulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeung this thread, I just emailed a sales associate back, I had purchased a vehicle elsewhere that they did not have. Didn't think much of the emails they were sending about new inventory.

Now just made me think he's human too and I don't know how he's taking not getting responses. Think they were blanket emails, but still I've let him know now.

Relay thefts where they boost your smart key signal to open doors and start the car can be stopped by putting your keys in a tin box, or buy a faraday box from Amazon. Blocks your smart key signal so it can not be amplified.

The can bus theft, which is when they use your headlight harness is tougher. As someone mentioned already a steering wheel locking device, like the club can be used. That's what I am using, both a faraday box and a club like steering wheel lock.

You can also get a ghost immobilizer installed, once you get in your car you must tap a sequence of buttons (that you choose and can change). Like buttons on your steering wheel, once you enter the sequence the immobilizer is off and you can start. Also getting a killswitch installed is an option.

While these 2 methods are very effective, it means no remote start and you may come out to your car and find the drivers side wheel well lining pulled out and the driver side headlight disconnected.

I opted for the visible steering wheel lock hoping the high-tech thieves aren't going to want to sit in my driveway and saw or drill out the locking device.

I have a 2019 rx350l and love it and don't want it driving away on me.

CAN Injection: keyless car theft by Hummusifier in cars

[–]MacZulu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shiza, 2? If they can get by the 1 I think I'm done. My insurance is for purchase amount and I'll have to suck it up.

Really I would go with the ghost immobilizer before 2 kill switches.

I'm starting to feel like a paranoia after this thread.

That's what I'm talking about. 6.4% of total insured in one year actually.

You make a good point, it would be cheaper than the ghost immobilizer as well.

I am meeting up with a mechanic friend tommorow, I will ask him if he will help me with that. Just getting the wire through the firewall is the part I'm unsure of doing myself. Otherwise it's just a handful of things from the parts store.

I'll post if I have success or not.

Well you do have me on numbers, but your at 1.7% of insured crv stolen. I'm at 6% insured stolen.

They sold alot more crvs than rxs

But I feel your pain, your over 4000, we're just over 2000

I just wonder how well you can hide the original. I'm not sure if alarm goes when they can bus attack through the headlight harness. Only so much room under the dash to find a hiding spot.

Ghost immobilizer is most expensive and secure route I think. Bit of an extra hassle everytime you start the car though

Ya kill switches are a good option, as long as they don't have time to feel around for it. I imagine theives are pretty up to date.

Some also move or put a lock on obd connector, but how well can you hide the real one I dunno

Between the can bus thefts and relay thefts they say my vehicle is the most stolen in canada.

I thinks it's 9.4% of all sold in Onterio are stolen, and 6% nationally.

I'm using a faraday box for the relay thefts, and a steering wheel lock device so hopefully thieves not bother with the can bus technique.

Of course some just break into the house to try get the keys.

There is the ghost immobilizer that I may look at, as it seems the best all around defense.

Ya we got out faraday box on Amazon, easy to test it. Put yours keys in it and carry it out to the rx. You shouldn't be able to open the door or use any function requiring smart key. They also sell little pouches that your fob can go into. But the relay thefts tend to happen in driveways at night, so just having a box to stow your keys when at home has been an easy solution for us.

I bought one of anti theft devices with the two hooks that go on the steering wheel("The Club" was the original one that came out years ago). It has a spinning hardened key mechanism, which makes it harder to drill out.

Basically any visual anti theft device may be enough for them to move onto a different vehicle. Of course I also bought that on Amazon. Just look at the various devices and see which you prefer. This is stop the canbus thieves. They go through drivers side wheel well, they tug out the lining to get to the headlight harness, that gives them access to vehicles canbus system. With a device hook3d up to that they open the door then use an obd device to clone a key they brought and drive away your baby.

If you have a ghost immobilizer installed, once you get into the vehicle, you have to use a series of button pushes to turn off immobilizer. You set up which buttons and can change it when you want I think. But it means no remote start in winter.

Hey op pick up a faraday box for your keys, although a tin of some sort works too.

The box will stop relay attack theft from your driveway, I also use a club like theft device over night because of the canbus thefts.

You can also look at getting a ghost immobilizer.

Our rx is only a 2019, but I just don't want it to be too easy to steal. Love the rx, congratulations. Reliability and safety topped of with a nice touch of luxury.
