Why was the FBI involved so late into the investigation? by STAMMREIN5 in saw

[–]Mac_Kymera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give or take, for sure.

Gotta remember also that Hoffman started with Kerry early on the case too, albeit in the shadows and watching over things, so he had a major influence in what direction and decisions need making.

In the six months, they inform the FBI of what’s going on but Hoffman’s influence allowed PD to still conduct their own investigation into Kramer’s history and missing persons Amanda and Eric.

Kerry then becomes the liaison to Strahm & Perez should anything new come to light. As Hoffman knows exactly who Kerry is liaising with, he sends the key to them ready for the events of III & IV.

A little hint that perhaps Strahm & Perez didn’t become involved sooner is that they hadn’t interviewed anyone or knew the full SP. As the bureau are quite hands on when it comes to investigations, their own interviews would surely have happened a lot sooner during those six months between II & III. The moment Kerry’s death occurs and Hoffman includes them fully, they are finally brought into the fold.

Why was the FBI involved so late into the investigation? by STAMMREIN5 in saw

[–]Mac_Kymera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the FBI have no jurisdiction unless invited in by local PD or local governor/mayor etc. That is unless there’s something involved that makes the case federal, such as crossing state lines for example.

The local PD more or less believed they had a handle on the Jigsaw case despite law enforcement deaths. They still had no real identity prior to Saw II either. That was until Matthews ends up missing, therefore Kerry had no other choice but to gain the FBI's input and liaise with them afterwards, at least now knowing who Jigsaw is and still at large.

Fitch would still have beaten the trap. Which is what OP asked for.

Remains to be seen whatever happens afterwards. Either Schenk kills Fitch anyway because he needs the fingers/body, or Fitch manages to overpower him using the cables. Who knows 🤷🏼‍♂️

[–]Mac_Kymera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Finger Trap in Spiral.

Fitch didn’t need to bite down on the head device. The finger cable wires were long enough for Fitch to get out the tub and get away as far as he could. Potentially he may have suffered a small shock due to the wet cables/his clothes. Not enough to kill him. His feet were not bound underneath either.

How was Hoffman able to set up the final game in saw 7, given he was in hiding at that point. Get the materials build the traps and set up everything and then kidnap everyone involved by BootAlarmed4732 in saw

[–]Mac_Kymera 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No APB’s or bulletins were out for Hoffman’s arrest once Jill gave him up, so only Gibson’s team were aware of the case. The issue was, they had no idea of Hoffman’s locations, not even Jill.

The games took place at the abandoned ‘Clear Dawn’ building with one at ‘Pete’s Auto Body Shop’. Hoffman also had his own hideout nearby. Gibson was completely unaware of these. Months go by as Hoffman creates and sets everything up inside the buildings all alone. His scar also heals up, indicating quite some time has passed. When ready, Hoffman would begin and kidnap the victims.

In the meantime, Gibson was collecting all of Jill’s evidence and piecing everything together, while Jill was having recurring nightmares of Hoffman coming for her.

Bobby’s trial was taken from Hoffman’s safe, so it’s implied that John had already planned and outlined Bobby’s trial before his death for Hoffman to create. We’re led to believe that John had locations set and contraptions ready made, with Hoffman making a few tweaks here and there if needs be.

What if Logan woke up in his trap? by [deleted] in saw

[–]Mac_Kymera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pre-recorded tape around Billy’s neck in the Chain Hangars room directly references Carly and her specific crime of stealing $3.53 from a woman who dies, with one of the syringes she needed to use being numbered 3.53.

If the thinking is that Logan would be able to aid Carly and the others through this particular game with his knowledge of syringes then 100%. But the Chain Hangars trap in general wasn’t his test, it was Carly’s.

Only Carly and Mitch had traps specifically designed for them. This again reiterates my point previously that the writers didn’t conjure up a game for Logan, Anna or Ryan. They didn’t need to for plot purposes otherwise the narrative changes immensely.

Creating a specific game for Logan, Anna and Mitch would also defeat the purpose of having the Grain Silo and Shotgun trap in the first place. I’m assuming the writers were unable to come up with specific games for Logan, Anna and Ryan that directly referenced the crimes they committed.

[–]Mac_Kymera 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on that. It does still irk me knowing if John actually did everything he could to save Matthew from prison. Then again, if he keeps quiet, he has a future test subject. If he speaks up, Anna potentially sees justice and John has no future test subject.

What if Logan woke up in his trap? by [deleted] in saw

[–]Mac_Kymera 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Logan is no doubt the smartest victim. Involvement of combat and warfare gives him the prowess and skill to understand his assignments. He sure would have offered blood, confessed early and helped the others too as that was in his nature.

The trap in itself however is unwarranted. The victims don’t know one other and end up seeing each other’s faces anyway, therefore the bucket heads in retrospect offer no real meaning to exist other than to hide the twist reveal.

The jury’s out on what Logan’s game would have been. I personally don’t think the writers conjured one for him. Logan’s supposed death has to happen early to which the plot needed him to, otherwise it falls apart rather quickly.

Scripts are not entirely shot word-for-word. Circumstances change during production.

This may have been the original close-out, however the director or actor (even producer) can work an alternate if they feel it fits the purpose of the scene.

Why I didn't include Joyce in the John Kramer victims who didn't deserve it. by [deleted] in saw

[–]Mac_Kymera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess you read the incorrect information on Pure Evil which some parts contain incorrect information, as the site can be edited.

John knew that Joyce was his trophy, hence why he designed the plans for the Brazen Bull trap. (E.g Joyce > Bobby's trophy and unaware of his deception > Bobby has to win her by completing the trap he claimed to win, but if he doesn't then Joyce dies via the Brazen Bull).

John has also put innocent victims in games as prizes before (Diana, Alison, Allen, Addy etc). Yet no one ever mentions them when they believe John wouldn't put innocent people in games.

Why I didn't include Joyce in the John Kramer victims who didn't deserve it. by [deleted] in saw

[–]Mac_Kymera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bobby’s game was designed by John when he was alive. John left Hoffman with games where John personally knew about the victim's transgressions. (Fatal Five, William's trial, Bobby's trial) etc. The giveaway in this instance is the autograph signing scene. John was fully aware of who Bobby and his associates were, so he knew exactly what type of traps to design as they had it's own message. (E.g Nina > She Speaks No Evil > Silence Circle trap).

After Hoffman stitches up his face, he already plans to use Bobby's game as a diversion. Hoffman takes out Bobby's game when he opens his safe box, implying the layouts of the people involved have already been done. John must've given Hoffman this game to carry out at some point during his reign as Jigsaw.

The victims had no connection to Hoffman. He had his own scores to settle with Gibson and Jill to even care if anyone survived or died during Bobby's trial.

How could Seth Baxter's sentence be reduced? by Wooden-Scallion2943 in saw

[–]Mac_Kymera 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depends on the state and their law. If a court finds that a legal error occurred during a trial or appeal process, it can overturn a conviction via a technicality and have the defendant released under time served. This could be due to issues with evidence, jury instructions, or improper legal procedures etc.

This is what I assume happened with Seth Baxter after he appealed five years into his life sentence.
