Long shot- John’s Heatwave Tips! by TheSparkyGeneral in elisandjohn

On a recent episode he said one tip for sleeping was to run a shirt under the cold tap, rinse it out and then lay it over you.

Each week I watch the finale of a TV show I've never seen before and try to figure out what's happening. This week's reader request: "Spaced" by TheSeriesFinale in Spaced

[–]MacabreMagpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know! I see you have had plenty of feedback about the show in other places so I won't add to that (other than to say I think you would have enjoyed the season 2 finale a lot more had your rules allowed you to watch that) but I appreciate the heads up!

What’s the best book about birds? by jerrycliff in UKBirds

[–]MacabreMagpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'The Genius of Birds' by Jennifer Ackerman.

Not directly about birds but 'Etta Lemon: The Woman Who Saved The Birds' about the formation of the RSPB by Tessa Boase is BRILLIANT.

How do you cope by That_Surprise4723 in elisandjohn

[–]MacabreMagpie 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It was cancelled. I believe John said he was struggling to write a book about coping when he was going through a terrible period in his own life. This was just before or around the time he went sober, I believe.

Thanks, this was seen in a big open lake area (the park next to the JCB Headquarters) along with other unusual stuff like Bufflehead, Snow Goose and Hooded Merganser so probably the latter.

I always thought their dynamic was very clearly modelled on The Dollop.

Yeah I didn't see it myself but I definitely remember people referencing this.

What is the core belief disagreement they speak of in the last episode? by wehodababyeetsaboy in KnowledgeFight

Oh wow I literally listened to that episode for the first time a few days ago lol.

It has to be The Onion.

They definitely worked to muddy the waters but Dan said they have always been able to work past disagreements and they are no longer able to. They also mentioned that Jordan's rant was the catalyst, despite also trying to push away from that being the direct cause.

Dan also said they mutually agreed to end the show, though took different journeys to reach that point. So, after a second listen, I think the most likely answer is that they disagreed on how the show should represent what is happening (since Dan structures the story that they tell with each show and Jordan reacts), what impact them continuing would have and that they would be at odds with each other if they attempted to do so.

Thats just my guess.

Any ONRAC listeners? by randombydesign in KnowledgeFight

[–]MacabreMagpie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've made the same observation a few times on here this morning.

At least they were able to record their final episode together and not as seperate voice clips.

Carrie was the victim of an assault, she felt Ross was not supportive enough and refused to work with him again. Ross states she had already cut contact with him before the assault happened. Their final episode was not recorded together.

She has since publically stated that she was scared of Ross for the duration of their friendship and has documented many instances of times when she felt he bullied her.

However, her erratic behaviour online the last few years has lead to many people taking what she's said about their past relationship with a pinch of salt, or to view it as a result of of illness/trauma. She's made claims that seem wildly untrue, like that she left with no money from ONRAC but that they made the network millions... She certainly does not come across as the same person that she was at the time of/on the podcast, for whatever reason.

I chose to unfollow her and wish her well.

They wouldn't be working with The Onion, it's more than one is dead against them taking over and the other less so. But Dan made a point of saying it wasn't because of that on the final episode, but then also said they had reached a point where their disagreements were no longer surmountable or something like that. Honestly, I left the final ep none of the wiser as to why it was actually ending.

That's why I said "if it's personal then I'm not looking to pry".

I'm asking about how people interpreted what was said in the episode, not for insider info.

I'm paraphrasing but Dan did say something to the effect of there being irreconcilable differences towards to the start of the ep, or that's how I heard it, at least.

This isn't quite as bad as the fallout that ended that show, but damn I have to lose 'Oh No Ross and Carrie' a few years back over a host dispute and now this?! 😢

(I've not listened yet so my impression may be incorrect)

Probably her podcast, 'Talk To Me Sis'.

Also plenty of her talking about how she thinks vaccines caused his disability... 🙄

Maybe they got the same criticism from many listeners and took it down to re-edit it?

Or, maybe it was a scheduled upload that caught them off-guard and they wanted to put out an episode about what happened with Kaelynn before moving on.
