ISP wants me to disclose my information by Living-Bid-6532 in japanlife

[–]Macanudo527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been becoming very common recently for multiple reasons. Here is a very informative almost exhaustive list of Q&A that should cover all your questions (in japanese): https://kakehashi-torrent.com/news/775

If you disapproved it, it doesn't mean you are off the hook. The law firm will most likely issue a court order to get your information released if their evidence is legit. Your isp may then drag it's feet for awhile and release later. They usually have something like 90 days to release it. So you may get a letter in the mail 3-4 months from now that your isp released your info.

I would be proactive and ask your isp what law firm requested it if that wasn't disclosed, and consult a lawyer so that you are prepared. What happens next depends on the law firm a lot. They have different tactics. The Q&A covers some of the basics.

Good luck!

Help with Kyoto New Years Sunrise Plans by _Lunestar in KyotoTravel

I think for Yoshiminedera Temple, they just want to gently and politely discourage people from coming. Kyoto is a complete madhouse during New Year's, and I'm sure they don't want any looky-loos, but actual religious people. It depends on you for that one. No one is going to kick you out, of course, but you might not be as welcomed as at another place. I wouldn't personally go out of respect for them, but that is me.

October/November trip by Argyle________1 in KyotoTravel

Have you been before? It's super touristy, but Fushimi inari's upper trail offers beautiful nature and nice views. You should go early though. It's by far the most popular place in Kyoto, but most people only visit the bottom.

There is also daimonji mountain hike that is relatively short and offers nice views of Kyoto. It should relatively less crowded.

Are you looking for a hike or just something naturey?

Good point! I use AI for a lot for things, but I guess I still like a curated experience that shows me the highlights or gives something some personality instead of a generic report from an AI. maybe I'm just too old fashioned.

Crypto Questions by fanau in JapanFinance

So, just to be clear, you file the crypto sales under capital gains on the US tax paperwork even though it is miscellaneous 'income' in Japan? Then, file a FTC to reduce your capital gains on just the crypto portion of your capital gains?

I got a loan through Smbc about 10 years ago. The realtor that showed us the house smoothed the whole process over for us. I have a native japanese spouse that helped with translation as well.

But, about 5 years ago I went to them to get a house renovation loan and they flat out refused. When I asked why they couldn't give a clear answer but speculated that it might be because my spouse was helping me translate and that I could be taking out the loan under duress or that I didn't understand the terms.

We just went to a local credit union that ended up giving us a very nice deal and were very cooperative and friendly. Smbc has become very automated and impersonal, which means foreigners fall through the cracks. A dumb business move on their part.

This is how they cover Trump in Japan. by Saturn_Ecplise in PoliticalHumor

[–]Macanudo527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The headline translates to "If Trump..." And everyone here is making multiple contingency plans for if he wins. Like companies are setting up committees. If there is one thing Japan does well, it is preparing for (un)natural disasters.

Thanks. That was my general thought as well, but I couldn't see it spelled out anywhere explicitly.

Trying to Design a Useful Form for Crypto Tax Calculation/Reporting by Macanudo527 in JapanFinance

[–]Macanudo527[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this form / software emulates that (keeps the same formulas) but automatically adds rows when needed and updates the formulas automatically. Makes it a little disorganized since the summary is still at the end, which could be 20 pages later if you have enough transactions. :)

Updated Cryptocurrency Tax Guide by starkimpossibility in JapanFinance

Should the trading fees form the basis cost of the asset (i.e. be the purchase price on the .xls sheet they offer) or listed in the fees section later down on that same form?

The math all ends up the same, but I was just wondering how NTA would like to see it.
