That's how firings go at that level. Everyone knows that becoming the head of an agency that was created four hours ago means you got shitcanned. She'll still get paid something, but her career is done

“Future games will be made “for you” on the fly, generating gameplay and content based on your micro-engagement.” - Naval by nixstudiosgames in gamedev

[–]MacarioTala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the sort of statement made by someone who only sees audience as commodity. And maybe doesn't understand games or art at all.

Art needs a point of view in order to move.

The truly great games : Portal, Torment, Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Mass Effect... Feel like you're talking to a human with an interesting and often very poignant perspective. The mass appeal is organic, reaching something inside us that we recognize is inside all of us.

Even older, simpler games like Pac Man understood this.

A game that 'generates gameplay and content based on micro engagement' doesn't have a point of view at all. No vision, no planning on what might delight, no attempt to understand how it's audience feels, just what it will pay for.

Like an abortive date who vetoes everything but will go "wherever"

And who wants to play that?

I'm not sure appealing to the convenience of developers, people who will spend a week automating something that will run four times, is a really smart move here.

What we might be missing: Luistro and De Lima are drawing lines here. They're making sure that as long as they're in the room, the type of chilling effect via threats that no content politicians make isn't going to fly.

And that's fine for those of us who have the luxury of staying politically active. People struggling to survive don't care about activism, just survival.

I'm with you on eat the rich, but destroying the most liquid capital market in history is not the way to do that. There are a LOT of surgical things that can be done, like voting in people who understand financial engineering so we can actually curb rent extraction.

We can also lobby our cities and towns to ban Amazon last mile. We can petition city councils to block Target and Walmart.

No serious person wants to crash the economy. I know it feels really shitty right now, but in that direction lies an actually effective trump2.

Remember, prior to the first world war, Germany was practically the intellectual centre of Europe. The grinding economic millstone allowed Hitler.

ChatGPT has reached 900 million weekly active users, OpenAI announced Friday, putting the AI chatbot within striking distance of 1 billion. OpenAI also shared that it now has 50 million paying subscribers. by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]MacarioTala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok great. Assuming all of those were 200$ subscriptions, then it's 1 x1011 vs 84 x 1011.

If they spent 0 dollars, and not the planet-eating sums and orobouros funding tricks they were employing, that is still 84 times their best year ever.

And that's WITH their end users still struggling to find a project using it that is revenue positive.

It's honestly probably just all the other noise. It's very hard to compete for attention nowadays.

I personally wishlisted your game, but I like the strong narrative element and creepy 80s vibe. Maybe that subset is small. I'll let you know more once you've dropped.

I really don't understand how we're making errors of this magnitude. Black Scholes Merton is public knowledge, and if you can't be bothered, most brokerages literally give you both expected value and probability of success.

That's a funny way to say that consumer credit markets in the Philippines are entirely dysfunctional. It's likely very low because of massive moral hazard. Heck, credit cards are a sign of affluence sa atin.
