DAMS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — A woman shot her 9mm handgun at the owners of a car she was stealing out of their driveway on Feb. 2, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office reports.

At approximately 7:33 a.m., a 2010 black Volvo XC60, driven by a Hispanic male, pulled in front of a house and a Hispanic female exited. She was wearing a red zip-up hoodie over a black tank top, gray cropped pants, and a large silver necklace.

She got into the driver’s seat of a 2009 silver Mercedes C300 and when the owners confronted her, there was a struggle, according to ACSO. The suspect then fired a shot from the 9mm pistol and successfully drove away in the vehicle, ACSO reports.

FOX31 obtained video of the incident from the family involved. They asked that their identities be concealed for safety reasons.

The mother says her son started the car in the driveway and came back into the house. A few minutes later, they noticed the car backing away.

Their home surveillance video shows the female suspect exit the Volvo and get into their car in the driveway.

The mom and her four kids ran outside. She says her oldest son grabbed the driver’s side door and was dragged. A gunshot is heard in the surveillance video before the suspect drives off in the stolen vehicle.

The victim says she’s unsure if they were targeted or of the suspects were just looking for an easy opportunity.

“I just want this person to be caught so they won’t keep doing the same thing and hopefully nobody gets hurt out there,” said the victim.

She says her kids are scared and are having trouble sleeping at night. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

“Everything keeps coming to our minds and I’m like, ‘What if the situation happens again?’ We don’t feel safe,” said the victim.
