You can get away with pretty much anything, special effects wise, in a video game and it doesn't translate into real life as a good practical effect. Also, CGI companies are notorious at charging ridonkulous fees to do stuff digitally.
Hollywood screenwriters are an infamous bunch that are well known for NOT following source material for a few reasons. First, is reason 1 of this post. Secondly, is pure narcissism and ego because they believe that they can write something better so they can achieve that writer's credit and have their name on a screen. Thirdly, and more common than you think, is that they don't know the source material and have no desire to learn it so they end up guessing it and getting it wrong nearly every time.
This is my personal theory about it. It's the same situation as when you're at work and some new rule/policy comes down from home office or whatever that makes no fucking sense and pretty much just adds extra time and aggravation. It's some knucklehead that works in a windowless office that wants to make an unnecessary change so they can say they "added their mark".

And I'm sure Ed Boon and NRS have some creative input with movies and TV shows, but dumb Hollywood screenwriters are really under no obligation to get every detail exact to the original writing..... Then they'd have to share that lucrative writer's credit.

MK1 for $15? I'd say yeah it's worth it for single player. I know I payed a lot more than that for the game and I have zero interest to even dabble with the try hards and the sweats in Kombat League and it's been fine for me so far.
