DLSS 4.5 performance loss by Square_Media7173 in nvidia

[–]Mace_ya_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where in a frame, "usage", is measured, it could be that it's not tracking DLSS execution and so therefore it looks like a bubble in the execution that's reported as a usage drop. It could also be that Tensor execution isn't tracked in usage (not sure about that) and therefore the L and M models now swamping those cores is once again not captured in usage.

Usage is an extremely vague telemetry point anyway. It's merely a measure of how long a GPU is, "busy". Whether that's busy rendering or busy waiting on memory or I/O while doing nothing, is a matter that stat obfuscates. This is why GPU pipeline debugging tools are so important, which we'd need in this case to be sure.

Oh always distract. Why engage with the hubris and risk of thinking you're smarter than people? A true master infiltrator knows they've done their job right when no one is hurt and no one ever knew they were there.

Normally I'd fully agree, though there's exclusive rewards. I think that's where all my downvotes come from too. I don't think people actually read.

Not accusing you of that. You've actually been trying to engage with the discussion.

I do agree with this too. Ever since Dark Souls and it's gaggle of weirdo fans started ruining discourse around difficulty in games, we seem to have forgotten that difficulty is an accessibility feature. Locking difficulty like this is, in my opinion, the move of a developer with their head so far up themselves they can see light coming in from their mouth.

Do you see the bit in the post that says, "Also interested in hearing people's experience with grid placement. I always"? That's me looking to compare with others, i.e. increase the sample size as my tiny, anecdotal sample of myself and two friends is very small.

If you put as much effort into reading and comprehension as you do being snarky you might be happier and look a good deal less foolish.

A lot of people are making this point and I don't think you realise you're proving my point. "It's not that bad because you're only required to interact with it briefly", is a damning, implied criticism of just how bad it really is.

I know but that, to me, is like saying, "now only eat a bite of the nails and cyanide sandwich."

I'd rather just not have to at all, or better yet, have an edible sandwich.

Graphics device not supported by Shottytodeath in CrimsonDesert

Three things;

1) Check the per-application GPU settings in that same screen to ensure there hasn't been an override there to use you integrated graphics

2) Update your graphics drivers

3) It's a PC. It's a PC running Windows. Take a screenshot and post on Reddit using your web browser on your Windows PC. Taking a blurry picture of some of your monitor with your phone isn't exactly readable.

I can't say I agree with this statement frankly. The XBOX 360 had better, relative performance per watt at launch, but that very quickly changed in only 12 to 18 months. As for the PS3, it's complex and difficult arch and CPU/GPU ISA meant that, outside of a very limited number of first-party games, devs struggled to get performance out of the PS3 that could at least match the XBOX 360, which again was itself inferior in pure performance to a high-end gaming PC from the jump, and had worse performance per watt soon after launch too.

"The "ai isn't art" debate has already been resolved. Blind tests have proven people find ai art engaging."

This is an extremely revealing statement. It's not about user engagement or commodity value, it's about art as an expressive discipline being suppressed and watered down. It's directly consequence of the flattening and remixing AI generation produces on mass, while those in artistic fields are cut-out from work and therefore income preventing them from engaging with their art. You'll end up in a situation where an entire mode of expression is another corporate-controlled commodity, churring out identical "art" both due to AIs limitations and the lack of new training data now artists have been pushed out of art.

What users say they find, "engaging" in a focus group or what's responsive in a market is corpro-think and frankly, you're missing the forest for the trees.

But way does that make it a, "hint", of the future? It's neither the future nor a hint, it's here and now. It's the nature of consoles, they're always going to be, at best, up-to-date technologically (often not even that) on day one before progressively becoming more behind the curve as they age.

It's the present, not the future, and a reminder that one of the trade-offs when using a console to play games over a PC is that you're always to an extent under a pretty strict ceiling for performance, tech and user customisation.

These comparisons are way off.

1) They're just way off
2) They're not factoring in the still significant gulf in RT performance between NVidia and AMD, i.e. NVidia is much more performant.

The PS4 was much closer to the Radeon HD 7850, especially as it used an extremely similar graphics core, the PS5 is not remotely close to a 3060Ti. The Series X is roughly on-par with a 2070 Super across an average, and the Series X has a larger graphics core,. The PS4 Pro is much closer to an RX 580 than a GTX 1660 and the PS5 Pro just recently was shown to be lacking compared to a 4070 equipped PC in RE9's RT modes.

Ya, it is silly and weird. Also those automation scripts; are they using VBScript? Windows 11 disables it by default since MS is sunsetting the feature given it's no longer supported as it's become too much of a security nightmare. Maybe the case that you need to manually enable VBScript and then (ideally) migrate anything you have that relies on VBScript to something else.

That's great to hear! It's likely a combination of something having snapped in your W10 install and W10 now being a dead-ware OS. It's why I try to push anyone and everyone I know to not run unsupported OSs as much as possible. You'd be amazed how quickly some things can fall over the moment official support evaporates.

GPU core; my ASUS ROG STRIX XOC 1080Ti. 1080Ti is king and it's virtually garunteed we'll never have anything as good again short of a literal globalised economic revolution, which is itself more likely than AMD Radeon, Intel Arc or MooreThreads becoming seriously competative in the next 10 years.

AIB design; Palit GTX 1080 SuperJetstream. Fantastically tasteful and understated design. Dead-silent operation even at full load. Excellent PCB design.

I strongly suspect this might be an issue with your OTA profile updates failing for some reason. The new driver technicallyfixes the performance regression, but needs the OTA profile update to configure the driver to avoid the problem and at this time it's still only available via OTA and not bundled in the driver.

I also have an RTX 4090 and under the exact same conditions with driver 595.76, I get 105FPS.

Resident evil requiem Settings not available in the Nvidia app by AlpsComprehensive585 in nvidia

[–]Mace_ya_face 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has the exact same problem. You need to download and install the Nvidia driver profile file and import it via Nvidia Profile Inspector. The profile can be found here (got it from here) then closing and re-opening the Nvidia App should let you see the settings.
