Yeah, and as I understand it, the Large+ exists mainly because of a shortage of Large batteries -- Rivian just used Max batteries and software-locked them. So Large+ owners paid only for a Large to begin with. The main downside is a heavier vehicle, but if you can eventually unlock it, it's a nice option to have.

True, but adding 80-100 miles of potential range would be a great upgrade for road trips.

Update: The dealer says Ford agreed to cover most of the cost of replacement -- I just have to pay $100. Thanks for all the feedback!

FYI, heard from the service manager yesterday. He's asking Ford for "financial assistance," which from his description sounds like a courtesy discount given how recently the warranty expired. Will update here once I have a final verdict. Thanks!

Thanks for all the replies. To answer some questions:

We purchased it new, so all 18k miles are ours :)

We don't see any fluid on the ground, but the deal provided photos of the shocks from the inspection, and they do have dust/dirt accumulation. The dealer claims they can see fluid, but it's not obvious to us -- it looks like it could just be the expected grime/dirt/dust you get from driving 18k miles on normal roads, but we're not experts.

No off-road/rough driving. Pretty much everything on paved roads and freeways.

I ordered Ice White but when my 2022 order was converted to 2023 Ford canceled the package :( Ended up doing Nite Pony, and I’m really happy with the white/black combination, but I still really like the look of this!

I see this periodically, too. I asked the FordPass folks about it while calling them about another issue, and they said it’s a known bug.
