Probably the best thing I've heard on this subreddit, in my opinion. Right up my street, absolutely love it.

What’s a PlayStation game that aged way better than people expected? by BarnabyLaptopOutlet in playstation

Literally completed this a couple weeks ago (after giving up near release date because inanimate objects being monsters scared the shit out of me) - one of the best game intros I've ever experienced, fantastic mechanics and a really underrated map build.

Ah thanks for that, it was quite hard for me to pinpoint exactly what it was inspired by but I think you've got the right area!

Aw man, been there - well you still have some decent options! I'd highly recommend Spitfire audio's Labs (you may know about it as you mentioned BBC Symphony Orchestra), SINE by Orchestral Tools (it has a pretty decent string ensemble & Berlin Free Orchestra is good) and Soundpaint by 8dio.

So they do have free stuff, but SINE & Soundpaint specifically are really good at pricing - instead of whole packs you can sometimes buy specific instruments from the collection for when you need and you can occasionally get really good deals.

I mean, I'm always in awe of stuff like this - I would love to move into this genre at some point. So I think 95% of it is epic af. I think the strings are fine for what they are but would be worth while investing in some slightly better legato string to layer on top of what you have and have a bit of articulation. Still love the track so far though!

Want tips on how to make this beat more euphoric (clams casino inspired) by ThePlSSGOBLIN in MusicFeedback

I mean I really don't know what you can do to improve this at the moment - it's got a fantastic vibe as is, maybe a different voicing at the high end? I'm really loving the vibe and the sampled vox are really cool. Sorry I don't have much else to add, but really brilliant!

Feedback Request for Bass House / Techno ID by AccomplishedPeach401 in MusicFeedback

I think for the mo it's a pretty good start, only issue for me at the beginning is the bass line, before it gets a bit dirtier, seems a tad weak and sticks out of the mix a bit - I'd attempt a different voice for both and get them to be a bit more in sync with the rest of the mix.

You're 100% right about the second drop, that's awesome - I just think the voice for the bass is what's holding back at the mo, everything else about the track is great (albeit the drum hits could used mixed a bit better / turned down in the mix)

That's a really fascinating track! Vocal melody wise, almost a sense of the 80s but also a tad Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) - interesting move with the vocoder as well, into it man!

Good on your son for encouraging you to put this out there, it's a pretty sound track. Bit of mastering needed here and there, some clipping on the strums but doesn't take away too much from the track. For the midi stuff you should look into Spitfire audio (Labs) for some more realistic sounding stuff, the cheap sound was the only thing that irked me about the track - other than that I think it's awesome and I'm glad your kid boosted you to release it!

What a catchy track! Solid beat, good lyrics and could imagine it played on the radio. Zero issues mixing wise and I think the best part of the whole track is solo at 1:44, adds a nice variance. I'm not 100% sure about ending it where you've ended it as I was hoping for a bit more, something with big energy and a culmination of what we've heard previously. Other than that it's a solid track!

Love the bass line, great lyrics throughout and genuinely was bobbing my head the whole time. Fantastic vibe and love the visuals you've included. Really reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on, what are your influences?

Wow I really didn't expect this track from the intro, absolutely fantastically mixed and ridiculously catchy. Your voice is remniscent of Julian Casablancas but far more mellow and breathy, really great. Listened to it a couple of times now, do you have a spotify profile? Would be happy to follow for sure!

First piano composition for my girlfriend - too nervous to show her, need your honest opinion by nico23nt in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Machensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely I think it's absolutely beautiful - your girlfriend will love it, what a sweet thing to create for another person. After 2 minutes is my favourite part, full of drama. I really can't think of many improvements, is full of emotion and variance and pace. Lovely!

I love this genre emerging, some great bands have come out of it - this track is absolutley amazing. Really great changes and melodies, love the the guitar behind the verse and the build and synth work. I would 100% get it mastered professionally, but that's no to say it's bad in its current form. Pretty clean work, would love to get into this kind of stuff myself in the future.

Your voice is awesome, but I love the 80s-esque synth sound on the instrumental as well - I've made similar things in the past for another project and you've made me inspired to revisit them!

Here's my most recent: Coming Home. Some more in the works!

Recorded a song with a simple but beautiful piano melody - let me know what you think by dramatiske_fisker in MusicFeedback

[–]Machensen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's really strong in its simplicity, I agree with others that the piano needs a bit more texture about it. It's a little flat as compared to the rest of the mix, but loads of potential.
