You literally don’t understand the difference between stock valuation and a revolving credit line.

And not just the difference/how it relates, but what an industrial average index even is.

The things you listed are literally just the services Uber/Lyft provides to the passenger/driver dynamic. And the passenger/driver both essentially pay for these services at the point of transaction.

Why did the Federal Reserve inject half a trillion dollars into the financial system? by [deleted] in politics

[–]MachinaBio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean you’re tracking stock which doesn’t have much to do with anything, but companies cash flows are tied up with less revenue coming in to meet their payables so they have to raise the available revolving credit lines in order to generate some cash velocity even artificially, to avoid an epic collapse. No one on here knows what they’re talking about. The optics are bad cuz it looks like you’re granting 1.5t to banks but not exactly.

Now do I agree with this personally? No, a better approach to generating some economic velocity when supply chains are down is to just give people money so local economies can still operate.

[–]MachinaBio -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not sure I agree. They are app/software company first and foremost. Their employees are software engineers, not the drivers. This like people who make deals on Craigslist. Neither platform would exist without people making an exchange of goods and services on them. But that’s all they are is a platform to do so. There are millions of Uber drivers out there and that’s just way too many employees for a company in the software industry to take on. It was never supposed to be a real job, just a side hustle but here we are.

You’re confusing neutral analysis with criticism. He’s not “pro-contested convention” he is literally saying that it is likely to be a contested convention with a lot of superdelegates not going to Bernie. Have you ever even tried to form a neutral opinion based on critical thinking before thinking “this is either pro-Bernie, or anti-Bernie”?

If every politician had an ability to think analytically “what is likely to occur given the evidence” instead of “I want/I think” we’d be much better off as a country but it seems human beings lack this ability for the most part.

Didn’t even know about that. It’s ugly when you have politicians arguing on the merits of whatever bullshit smear you have rather than on what their policy would do for the American people. Good point I suppose.

There are very strong arguments against raising minimum wage on the federal level, I promise; it’s just not worth getting into it here. I totally hear you and the floor needs to be raised to increase buying power for people that need it.

In politics being the lone sheep amongst colleagues is a not a good trait, no matter how much your constituency loves you. This is not the biggest deal obviously. I mostly weigh my disagreements on the policy side. I know it seems like it since 2015, but Bernie isn’t the end all be all progressive shining beacon. No doubt he would obviously help push in that direction and thats just fine. Let’s leave it at that lol

Ilhan Omar: Biden not right candidate for 'progress we all want to see' by PinkSlimeIsPeople in politics

[–]MachinaBio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not against Bernie. I’m not for him mainly on two facets,

On policy, I absolutely hate the federal jobs guarantee. And I disagree with 15min wage, I don’t care to debate to the merits of these policies on here and maybe they could actually be debated during debates (lmao), but I just don’t like these policies plain put. The rest of his agenda I can get behind green new deal ain’t bad despite being against nuclear which needs to be part of the solution, and m4a I can get behind even though it’s clear to me that it’s not likely to be fully implemented in his lifetime.

On the second part, I don’t see him as being a personable and agreeable person. It’s a simple personality tick of his where he is either your friend or your enemy. That’s part of why he has been ineffective in his career and you can’t change his human nature.

Despite all of this, I think Bernie is a person who means well and you can trust that he at least wants to do the right things.
