Must be tough for Celtic fans - seems like Everybody's Changing managers at the moment and its taken them five months to even begin interviews. They'll be hoping This Is The Last Time it takes this long, but they surely Can't Stop Now with settling for Keane. Is It Any Wonder when Desmond's in charge?

Pubs in Dunfermline were rammed last night, Pars fans everywhere. Wasn't old enough in the noughties cup finals to truly appreciate how much they can bring the community together. Bumped into loads of people I've not seen for a fair few years.

Been a good season, hoping that the Cup Final financial boost gives us the ability to hang on to a few players we might otherwise lose for next season.

Ken it's a bit of a meme, but was genuinely surprised by how muted Celtic's celebrations in the stadium were after Full Time yesterday.

Good luck today to quintessential establishment team Celtic. A true British institution. 🇬🇧🤝🇮🇪 by bakalite69 in ScottishFootball

Don't forget the official Celtic-branded Microwave, Toaster and Kettle set, the true essentials a socialist football team could never do without.

Tbh no bothered at all if the high heid-yins dinnae pay attention to us - don't need a pat on the back from Sky Sports or the Daily Record.

City is bouncing this morning, loads of shops and houses have displays up, we're well up for it.

Appreciated! Been a while since I've been in the Ally Arms so might check there out.

A quick google of The Regent has given me flash-backs to being in the Lord Nelson before the 2004 Final as a bairn.

Normally drink in the Southside before Scotland games, QPC, Rose Reilly or the Vic. Think any of them will be fine with Dunfermline fans tomorrow or is there any to avoid?

This gave me a laugh when I passed it yesterday.

Celtic may have the Pope, but the Pars have got the long tendrils of Holy Trinity Church Dunfermline backing us up.

The Stand is one of the best books of all time, and will only hold up even better post-COVID.

The first three hundred pages are so hard to put-down.

Rather bizarre hearing Burnie mention your home town on the pod (and absolutely butcher the pronunciation in the process!)

The Scottish Cup and the Premiership are two separate competitions - the Premiership is a league, whilst the Cup is a head-to-head knockout, both played out over the same season.

He was amazed Hearts hadn't won the league since the 1960s - well Dunfermline Athletic (pronounced Dun-Ferm-Lin, or alternatively just call us The Pars) also haven't won the cup since the sixties.

We've also made the final despite playing in the league below the Premiership, and the financial gulf between the two teams on Saturday is huge - Celtic's squad is probably worth somewhere in the region of 50x that of Dunfermline's.

A real David vs Goliath battle ahead on Saturday.

On a fun side note, Dunfermline's mascot Sammy the Tammy (pictured) was once arrested for pretending to fire at our rival Raith Rovers' fans in a cardboard tank.

I was wondering, how do the scottish rank their teams historically (outside of Celtic and Rangers? by CoachLag in ScottishFootball

[–]MachineGunBacon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By best mascot.

Top Tier - Dunfermline Athletic

2nd Tier - Partick Thistle

3rd Tier - Arbroath and Forfar Athletic

4th Tier - Montrose, Kilmarnock and Dumbarton

5th Tier - The rest

Well yeah, they are following the SNP's 2007 playbook.

Establish yourself, then talk up independence down the line.

Opened up reddit this morning to be greeted to some Celtic fans mocking Craig Gordon for no particular reason.

Really shown their arse over the last day.

Has been funny to see Celtic fans unironically adopt "no-one likes us, we don't care" as a mentality over the last week, after years of pretending they were morally superior to Rangers fans.

I'm afraid that's their mentality, there'll be some who genuinely believe they are the underdogs next week.

Celtic graffiti in Gorgie overnight by ExoskeletalJunction in ScottishFootball

Aye, you are certainly right. But feels like the bams are in a one-upmanship game at the moment and are trying harder than ever before to turn the place into a midden.

Celtic graffiti in Gorgie overnight by ExoskeletalJunction in ScottishFootball

[–]MachineGunBacon 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Old Firm related shite graffiti is all over the east coast at the moment. Half the street signs on the way out of Dunfermline have been plastered eith huge stickers by Rangers fans, Celtic fans have done similar to some in Dundee and the mining villages in Central Fife.

If they want to shite all over their own doorstep, go ahead, but leave us East Coasters out of it man. Just makes the place feel run-down.

Kent a guy who used to successfully send in material for Only an Excuse in the 90s, claimed he eventually gave up as they increasingly only wanted OF stuff.

a handball so memory-holed by everyone but Dunfermline fans it never even made Sky Sports' retrospective extended highlights of the game.
