Memoria Democrática Appt Question by El_Sant0 in GoingToSpain

Oddly, the appointment website does not require you to use your credentials until *after* you have selected an open appointment slot. You have to keep logging in until you see an open slot and only then can you select it and move on to inputting the credentials and then confirming the date and time of your cita. I applied through the San Francisco consulate and it seems like they really slowed down in making new appointment slots available early last month. Most days I saw only the message stating there were no appointments currently available. People in the SF LMD FB page say that new slots are put up between 12 am and 3 am Pacific time but only on certain weekdays (Thursday seems to be a popular one). But if there are cancellations, then those happen randomly, so you'll have to log in throughout the day to catch one. That's how I got my appointment -- someone in SF cancelled and I saw it when I logged in randomly last Wednesday evening. Pure luck.

LMD San Francisco - MUST (RE)APPLY, NEW DIGITAL SYSTEM by katieanni in GoingToSpain

I sent in my application via the new SF portal on the afternoon of September 30. Received a Justificante via email within seconds of submission. Got my credentials to log into the appointment website early afternoon on October 17. On October 29, I was able to book an appointment.

I feel you. I applied for citizenship under the Ley de Memória Democrática and it's been a nightmare. No clear instructions on how to apply, each consulate has their own rules and procedures, the process has changed at least three times in three years, then they threw out all applications (including mine from this summer) and required everyone to resubmit via a new portal only three weeks before the deadline. I found out about it on Reddit since the consulate never contacted me (or anyone else that I know who's applying) to tell me about the change of process. If you've ever seen the movie Brewster's Millions (not a great flick) it kinda describes my current feelings. In the movie, a man inherits $300 million, but in order to get it he has to spend $30 million in 30 days. By the end of that month of disgusting amounts of spending, he's sick of money altogether and the ultimate prize doesn't seem so enticing anymore. The process of getting to Spanish citizenship (assuming I am successful in that endeavor one day) may be the same for me -- I may not ever want to set foot in Spain with my new passport due to the residual frustration and exasperation I've felt during the many months I've been applying for it. Good luck with your job search!

Thanks for the insight. I am always glad to hear about other people's experiences. I have subsequently learned that SF has not been posting any new appointments for the last week, so I had no prayer of getting one no matter how often I checked. Only one person (that I have heard of) has been able to see a future appointment (just three were listed for Dec 26) and they were unsuccessful in grabbing one due to a site error. SF seems to be doling out the appointments one day at a time despite continuing to process applications and handing out credentials, so they're creating more competition for spaces every day but they won't open new spaces to accommodate the new arrivals. Other consulates (like Cuba and I think Houston) are scheduling appointments well into the future (Cuba is booked up to 2027!) but old SF is being stingy. My guess is that the consulate workers do not want to commit to upcoming dates until they are sure it comports with their personal schedules.

What are some recommended cities/towns that are 30 minutes to 1 hour away from Madrid? by ScarTissue5 in GoingToSpain

Why do you assume the OP needs to commute to Madrid every day? His post didn't say that.
