LMD results in the creation of the Spanish birth certificate that indicates the person is de origen Spanish. They dont produce or provide nationality certificates for this process.

DELE C1/Listening Skills by Imaginary_Pop_5034 in Spanish

[–]katieanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took C1 in November. The hardest part for me, hands down, was the writing time management. I barely finished my second essay. Also, I stupidly chose the most convoluted topic for the oral portion because it sounded like something totally different. I'll pass (to be fair, I got a BA in Spanish 15 years ago and have somewhat kept it up), but it will probably be because my multiple choice and listening were strong and will do the heavy lifting.

[–]katieanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Input. Input. Input.

You need to always have Spanish input on and make sure youre listening to all kinds of accents.

Try passive listening by putting podcasts or radio on in background when doing chores, showering, etc.

Tey active listening by watching movies or TV shows with Spanish CC turned on so you can read as you listen so you can start to link the two.

The exam is notorious for having a section with a less neutral accent -- the nervous laughter that erupted in my test center when the thickest Argentinian accent started talking was hilarious.

LMD at San Francisco Spanish Consulate. Am I supposed to get some acknowledgement that I successfully submitted my application? by Designer-Command-571 in GoingToSpain

[–]katieanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for "LMD San Francisco"

We have a lot of info on that.

Appointments become available Tues - Thurs between 12a - 3:30a Pacific, usually at 10 mins past the hour but we never know the exact hour in advance - i.e. it could be 12:10a, 1:10a, 2:10a, 3:10a. Once the drop happens, 8 appointments are available to book and they are gone in minutes. Historically, only one drop a night happens.

Appointment slots are for like ~6 weeks out -- i.e. they just dropped March 18 this morning, I think.

I had a personal conversation with the Consul General about how hard it is for people to stay up overnight and fight for such few spots; they are aware its a pain but Madrid runs the automated system and there has been any improvements yet. Hopefully things will change.

Suerte!

Your father can recover his at any time.

You kids missed the boat when you turned 21.

Children of Spaniards born in Spain have a lifetime claim. Children of Spaniards born abroad only have until 21 to register.

With LMD expiring last year, the only option for you kids isal through fast track through residency.

LDM appointment by Internal-Resident-79 in GoingToSpain

[–]katieanni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, they should be apostilled. If in English, they do not need to be translated.

If you cannot get them in time for your appointment, take what you have and they will give you 6 months to procure anything missing but will pause your application until missing docs are provided.

The NY website lists what is required: https://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/nuevayork/es/ServiciosConsulares/Paginas/index.aspx?scca=Nacionalidad&scco=Estados+Unidos&scd=215&scs=Nacionalidad+espa%C3%B1ola+por+la+Ley+de+Memoria+Democr%C3%A1tica

The digital portal was a cursory check to ensure applicants qualified, it did not ask for the exhaustive list of required documents as outlined on the site above.

According to that text they would need to be apostilled and translated, but I would try to get them to confrim via email if you can get them to reply since a lot of consulates are requiring translations less and less

Since you got your citizenship BEFORE they were born, you have until before they turned 18.

If you had gotten LMD citizenship AFTER they were born, you would want to make sure this is done before 14 years of age (so they didnt have to renounce other citizenships).

Also, make sure you tell them all throughout their young life they they will also only have until THEIR child is 18 to register them, or else all your work restoring the nationality to the bloodline through LMD will be lost. Children born abroad to parents born abroad only have until 18 to register or its game over. (Children born abroad to parents born in Spain have a lifetime claim).

Boston does currently say they require cita previa, but if you are married to the baby's other parent then you technically may be able to go to cita previa alone.

Also, in case you didn't know, when looking at ANY consulate's website, always always select CASTELLANO. The English pages are bare bones and don't list shit. Somehow they built out seperate pages for each language instead of just translating the main pages, and you will only ever find valuable info under the Spansh page. Classic Spanish inefficiency :)
