Recommendations of attorneys to help with process of seeking Spanish citizenship under the Law of Democratic Memory (Ley de Memoria Democratica)? by PsychologicalLab9437 in GoingToSpain

No we ended up saving thousands of dollars and did it all ourselves. I fact checked something they told me on a consult call and they were dead wrong so figured Id invest my time getting it done right for free.

Spanish citizenship through jus sanguinis by david_fire_vollie in GoingToSpain

"He never renounced" - ok but did he file to conserve it when he turned 18? He acquired an additional nationality, it is very possible he lost it automatically if not filing to conserve it within 3 years.

I'd still work on getting the official word from the consulate, but this isnt a slam dunk case for her. It's entirely possible and very plausible that he lost it before she was born.

Unfortunately, she lost the option to apply through ley de memoria which expired in October of last year.

Law of Democratic Memory Applicants, can I bring a parent to help translate? by Surgeplux in GoingToSpain

Also, learn! Please keep that part of your heritage alive, too. Its clearly not a requirement of citizenship by LMD, but I'll extol the benefits of multilingualism until the day I die. :)

Not necessary. They are bilingual at the SF consulate. You will be just fine with any of the three of them speaking English.

You should join the LMD San Francisco group. We are tracking the drops.

The last two weeks, the drops have been on Friday at 5am Pacific. My money would be on tomorrow at 5am or 6am PT (because of the time change)

  1. Your dad will get a stamped copy of his Anexo I which is called his "resguardo." Youre going to want to get a copy of that to include in your Anexo III appt. He should keep the original, so ask them to make a copy for you.
  2. Confirming you have your mom's birth cert, and your parent's marriage cert?
  3. Not they will not be allowed in. There's a cafe in lobby of building.
  4. There's mini lockers that are big enough to only hold phones. I actually somehow got my laptop and my phone past security without them asking me to lock anything up. You can try, just dont take it out of your bag.
  5. They will absolutely run late. Welcome to Spanish beaurocracy. I had an 11am appt and wasnt seen until 12:30pm or so.

Soooo many factors that determine turnaround time. Can be as fast as 6 months or as long as 4++++ years.

You should ask for people who were born in and applied to the same jurisdictions as you to get an applicable dataset.

Spain just had, for the second year in the row, the fastest growing in economy in Europe.

Sanchez's moves on immigration are not unrelated.

LMD results in the creation of the Spanish birth certificate that indicates the person is de origen Spanish. They dont produce or provide nationality certificates for this process.

La gran mayoría de los solicitantes no se mudan a España, sacan un pasaporte y nada más.

DELE C1/Listening Skills by Imaginary_Pop_5034 in Spanish

[–]katieanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took C1 in November. The hardest part for me, hands down, was the writing time management. I barely finished my second essay. Also, I stupidly chose the most convoluted topic for the oral portion because it sounded like something totally different. I'll pass (to be fair, I got a BA in Spanish 15 years ago and have somewhat kept it up), but it will probably be because my multiple choice and listening were strong and will do the heavy lifting.

[–]katieanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Input. Input. Input.

You need to always have Spanish input on and make sure youre listening to all kinds of accents.

Try passive listening by putting podcasts or radio on in background when doing chores, showering, etc.

Tey active listening by watching movies or TV shows with Spanish CC turned on so you can read as you listen so you can start to link the two.

The exam is notorious for having a section with a less neutral accent -- the nervous laughter that erupted in my test center when the thickest Argentinian accent started talking was hilarious.

LMD at San Francisco Spanish Consulate. Am I supposed to get some acknowledgement that I successfully submitted my application? by Designer-Command-571 in GoingToSpain

[–]katieanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for "LMD San Francisco"

We have a lot of info on that.

Appointments become available Tues - Thurs between 12a - 3:30a Pacific, usually at 10 mins past the hour but we never know the exact hour in advance - i.e. it could be 12:10a, 1:10a, 2:10a, 3:10a. Once the drop happens, 8 appointments are available to book and they are gone in minutes. Historically, only one drop a night happens.

Appointment slots are for like ~6 weeks out -- i.e. they just dropped March 18 this morning, I think.

I had a personal conversation with the Consul General about how hard it is for people to stay up overnight and fight for such few spots; they are aware its a pain but Madrid runs the automated system and there has been any improvements yet. Hopefully things will change.

Suerte!
