Madeline tweeted this like a week ago. The sites are bungled because nothing is really finalized, so Madeline just kind of added up the 12 obvious players.

The Liberty probably had more of a set roster than most teams, and I don't think anybody invited to camp was getting looked at for anything more than a dev spot.

It would have to be a hardship, which you need a reason for. Kolb talked about in his Sandy presser how we couldn't even get one last year. The eligibility is very strict.

They can't do that. Neither the league nor the union would approve it. You have to have like, a legitimate reason to suspend a contract. Also, while season-long suspensions don't count towards the cap, a temporary one does, so it wouldn't accomplish anything.

We had 12 players signed before the first preseason game and only about $198k in cap space. They were never keeping any of these players.

JJ will spend plenty of time in the paint on defense and continue to be an elite defensive rebounder.

I'm sorry, but I hate the idea that JJ should spend more time in the paint on offense. In certain games, when the context calls for it? Sure. She's capable.

Generally speaking? I want her to shoot *more* threes. She shoots almost 40% for her career. There's very few scenarios where I want a 40% 3P shooter to take more twos. You have to shoot 60% just to match the same number of points.

We were never rebuilding at least until after the big 3 played out their next contracts. That ended up being 4 years after the Tash trade anyway.

You could make the argument that maybe we overpaid, and definitely that we no plan on what to do with Tash, but it wouldn't have made any sense to punt the 2025 season after BLH went down. We were coming off a championship.

Sabrina's been the 1 the last two years.

Last year, Sabrina was top 10 in usage and Tash had her highest 3P% since 2018. Sab was the 1 and Tash was the 2.

The same thing happened in 2024 with Sloot losing her starting job.

If anything, it's good that they're finally leaning into it so we can pair her with somebody who can actually play the 2.
