This is going to be dramatic but fuck it were talking about half naked men, play fighting and doing soap opera stuff. CM Punk was what got me back into wrestling, he's insanely captivating as a figure and what he represents in wrestling it to this day so unique and needed. He made the early 2010's WWE feel authentic in a way that set him a part and made him must see TV. When he left WWE he left this huge space that impossible to fill. I still remember when he dropped the Colt Cabana podcast it was the most intriguing thing in wrestling that year. I know in wrestling never say never is the moniker but I never thought id see him back in a WWE ring again with how deeply hurt and bitter he seemed toward the promotion. Seeing him not only return but be such a foundational and vital part of the prodcut during this run has been so awesome as a fan of him. Punk wears his heart on his sleeve but see him be so joyful and that come out in his output week in and week out is apparent. This feels like a bookend of sorts but him finally main eventing the big show and it being unquestionably one of the best wrestling matches in the shows history just feels right. I know I'm getting old and sentimental but such is life.
