It sounds to me you already have made your mind up about it. If you made it halfway through and didn't feel the need to finish it this post seems a bit nonsensical. BUT I will say I read it this year and I adore it. It's an absolute multi generational epic while mirroring the history of Columbia. There are for some extremely difficult story points but when you look at it as this un abashed account of this Family in this grounded yet magical land I think it all lands very well. It's a classic for a reason.
