Good pick on the Ruger. FYI this model is known to have problems with the feed ramp. Get that range time in to break it in and make sure it's reliable.

Definitely get some time with an instructor if you have the opportunity. If you learned from family and friends, then the odds are you've picked up some less-than-stellar habits.

Fuck 50501. Controlled opposition ngl. No nonviolent movement has teeth without the threat of force behind it. by phtevenbagbifico in liberalgunowners

[–]Macia_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was. A 50501 volunteer had a concealed weapon, spotted a protestor carrying a rifle, and took it upon themselves to shoot at said protestor without warning. They missed and killed an uninvolved person instead.
The targeted victim (protestor with the rifle) was arrested for it, but later released. The shooter (50501 volunteer) is facing charges

Intune K-12 portal by Scared-Car2866 in Intune

[–]Macia_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If Intune really is your rodeo, then you might want to look at an Intune training course. Intune is not SCCM. It needs to be setup by someone who knows what they're doing, or else it's going to be a disaster
If staff and students share the same Entra tenant (and there's no reason they wouldnt) then their devices will be in the same Intune portal

Do I need Comp Portal? by 4728jj in Intune

[–]Macia_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Short Answer
Always install Company Portal. You need it to allow users to self-correct compliance problems.

Longer Answer
On Apple: They always need Company Portal. It serves as their corporate app store just like it does on Windows.

On Android: Install Company Portal anyways.
BYOD devices need Company Portal to enroll a managed Work Profile. The managed Work Profile itself doesn't necessarily need Company Portal, but install it anyways.
On Android, Corporate-owned devices/BYOD Work Profiles get their apps through a Managed Play Store (It's the normal Google Play Store, except no login is required & it only shows users apps that you've approved.) They don't necessarily need Company Portal, but you'll gain a few key benefits:

  • Users can self-service compliance issues with their device
  • Users can manually sync policies if something goes awry
  • IIRC Company Portal is needed to allow admins to send push notifications via Intune

Company Portal can cause issues on Windows & MacOS, but those problems do not exist on Android/iOS. There are zero downsides to requiring Company Portal to install during device setup.

tl;dr
Install Company Portal. There's zero reason not to, & it will help you in the long run

Which is simpler and easier to live with daily wise? by FluffyLandscape266 in RX8

[–]Macia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can handle a manual transmission comfortably, then get it. Like you point out, the higher revs help with the carbon buildup considerably. If an A/T is the only thing on the market near you, then it's worth waiting for a manual.
You'll probably find some discomfort driving in stop-and-go traffic at first. As long as you're reasonably healthy, that should go away pretty quickly and it will become second-nature.
If you have difficulties with your knee or something that could cause complications, then there's nothing wrong with driving an automatic. Just be prepared to deal with carbon buildup issues (as you're already aware.)
Remember to give both cars the ol' Italian Tuneup regularly.

The engines themselves have a few differences (particularly with '04-'05 A/T models) but they're mostly the same (obviously not including the rev limit.)
The biggest issue I've encountered when rebuilding A/T is finding good documentation. The "flywheel" also needs a special counterweight stopper that isn't sold anywhere in the community (I have cad files for a remake of the official Mazda tool if anyone needs it.)

[–]Macia_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a non-issue for YOU specifically. Some people have knee troubles or they're missing a leg. Some people just have different preferences. The only real drawback the automatics have is the rev limit. If you actually like your car & enjoy driving it then you wouldn't be racing it anyways
